Ice Cream Truck
Camped here in Miramar Beach FL and this truck rolled through the resort. Here it is in late November and the ice cream guy comes by!

It is always time for ice cream. We have an ongoing search for the ice cream sandwiches that use chocolate chip cookies as an excuse for an ice cream filler. We found a version at Walmart that was lite ice cream so we wouldn't feel guilty. Always time for ice cream and when the truck comes to you, fantastic. Now where is that bag with the laundry change? My neighborhood ice cream truck just went past my house. He runs year around. When I lived in Maine the official opening day of spring was marked by the village ice cream store opening. It might still be 35 degrees but people would be lined up to get their first scoop of the year.

No surprise. People still drink hot coffee or hot chocolate in the summertime, so eating ice cream in the winter isn't all that different.

A couple of years ago we stayed over night at the 7th Ranch RV Park in Garryowen MT. After checking-in the manager offered us a couple of huckleberry ice cream sandwiches. Since then we been hooked, but the problem is we can only find them in Montana and Wyoming.

Knowing folks have to compete with the bears to pick huckleberries, because they only grow in the wild kind of puts a different spin on the market. We tried the Huckleberry ice cream sandwiches in Yellowstone and decided to stick with the chocolate chip cookie variety. But once you are hooked, there is no escape. Time you planned your next trip to Glacier. Safe travels. Pat

We use our Garmin to find Dairy Queen and are always on the lookout for custom made ice creams whether it is winter or not.

we did return this year taking a more northerly route, but did stay overnight at 7th Ranch before crossing the Big Horn Mountains on the drive to Cody. We stayed at Fishing Bridge campground and stocked-up on huckleberry ice cream sandwiches from the store there. Plans were to head on to Glacier, but after arriving at Missoula the smoke was very heavy, 3 new fires near Glacier with some residents on alert for evacuation. Guess we have to make plans again for Glacier and more huckleberry ice cream sandwiches.

We were at Fishing Bridge the first week of Sept. Got our Huckleberry Ice Cream Sandwiches at the store there as well. We heard from several folks that they planned to go to Washington or Glacier and ended up in Yellowstone as a change in plans to avoid the fires. We still have the East side of Glacier to do on a future trip, so maybe we'll meet at the camp store freezer. Safe travels. Pat

We stayed ar Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, Oregon last June and had the pleasant surprise of an ice cream truck, complete with a traditional bell, roll through every afternoon.
