I-40 through TN, AR and OK

Has anyone traveled I-40 through Tennessee, Arkansas and Oklahoma recently? I'm heading that way this week and am concerned about road conditions on I-40. The last time I drove this route pulling my AS 2 years ago the road condition through TN (from west side of Memphis) into AR and OK was pretty bad.

Thanks,
David

I40

David

We went across I 40 from just north of Memphis two weeks ago. The road was not bad, they appear to be doing a lot of resurfacing. Oaklahoma I 40 has improved quite a bit, not as much of the cement that used to be so bad. Still lots of construction.

Good Luck

It's getting better thanks to the loan from China! Arkansas still sucks big time between West Memphis and Little Rock but it's better than two years ago!

Little Rock to OKC is pretty good now. Some construction east of OKC, but only a few miles. Most is in good shape.

My daughter and her hubby drove across Arkansas this weekend on I-40. They had some long delays west bound due to construction and several areas where it is one lane. No problems just slow and they did have to stop for a while on Friday. This is between Brinkley and L. Rock, the Arkansas highway dept. has a map on the internet that shows exactly where they are working and where the delays are.

We live in Arkansas and will do most anything to avoid I-40 between Lonoke & Memphis. They're working on it, thank goodness, but because of heavy truck traffic and previous flooding, it's a mess.

We detour over to the 2-lane parallel Highway 70. In addition to road construction and wall to wall semi rigs, I-40 east of Little Rock is just a boring ole road for 100 miles that is far from being the pretty part of Arkansas.

Any time we go east, the part I dread is I-40 east of Little Rock.

62-412 at the top of Arkansas through the Ozarks is beautiful.

I just returned home from Kansas via I-40 through Arkansas and Oklahoma. I-40 west through Arkansas is pretty good, but I-40 east through Arkansas absolutely sucks. It is as bad as I remember from my last trip pulling Moe to the festival in Winfield, Kansas 2 years ago.

At least it's not I-30.

Our son is fixing to move to Nashville and I'm definately not looking forward to the piece from Texarkana to Little Rock and then I-40 east to Memphis if that stretch of I-40 is anything like the I-30 stretch.

bumpity-bumpity-bumpity goes the TV and Airstream........
