Hoover Dam, Las Vegas

We are planning a trip to see Hoover Dam and Las Vegas for the 3rd week of October. Does anyone have any recommendations for an RV park with hookups? We will be coming off of a three day boondocking weekend north of Flagstaff on the edge of the Painted Desert. That is about the limit of the wife's tolerance without hookups.

We stayed at Boulder Oaks RV park in Boulder City, in between Vegas and Hoover Dam. It is a park where the sites are sold, but unoccupied sites are rented at reasonable rates. We liked it so much we are considering retiring there. Here is a link: http://www.aardvarkrv.com/boulderoaks/

Loydbonifide:

Thanks for the reply. I looked at their website and it sounds like a great spot that will fit our plans well.

Thanks again

Any restrictions

Does anybody know if there are any restrictions regarding crossing the dam with a trailer? I seem to remember that there was a ban on larger traffic right after 9/11.

Is a guide to the traffic permitted. RV's and trailers are fine.

No trailers over 10 years is a BUMMER.
Mine is 22 years old...not that you could tell without a Serial Number.

Where did you hear or read that?
Looking at the information page , there was nothing listed about age.
If it can be inspected, it can cross.

I think we got the wires crossed somewhere between the campground restrictions and the crossing restrictions.

The 10 year old limit is for the RV park, if you are going to purchase, not for transients.

As for the dam restrictions, just be prepared to have the unit and tow vehicle inspected, they check them all. Also, don't bring the trailer when you visit the dam, parking is difficult

I wouldn't let an age restriction stop an AS - just tell them it's a 97, no one will know the difference.

Yep, I was referring to the RV age restrictions at the RV Park linked above in Boulder City.
This summer I had a park ask me how old is your trailer, I said, I have had it four years....and I have....even if it was 18 years old when I aquired it...I have only owned it four years
