Hoosier Pass, CO

I've learned so much from Airforums, time for a little payback in the form of a head's up if you are heading to the Breckenridge, CO area. I spend summers near Breckenridge, so I have towed over Hoosier Pass on Hwy 9 southward often. Last week, however, was the first time I crossed it northbound while towing my 23' FC. The Pass is well posted re speeds, and I knew just how hairy it would be, but I urge anyone towing in this direction to be extra cautious....CRAWL down. The switchbacks are very, very tight, very steep and the descent is pretty long. Tough on brakes, and not for the faint-hearted.

I never though that Hoosier was that bad, have traveled it many times both ways. we have a family cabin west of Jefferson at the base of Georgia Pass, can't take a trailer over that one. Boras Pass is just down the road to the south starting at Como. Hoosier is the next one south out of Fairplay. All go to the Breckenridge area.
