Hendersonville, NC parks

We're going up to the Hendersonville NC area the weekend after next (Labor Day weekend) and would like to hear of any recommendations for nice camp sites. Got to be able to take the kids... Bogey & Shadow our four legged companions.

Hi - you might PM RichardT and ask him. He's from that area. I grew up there and suggest that you look just outside hendersonville - try brevard or mills river - beautiful!

This is one of my favs... west of hendersonville - about 10 miles - creeks runs through with crawdads and gentle innertubing. but a little rustic!

The North Mills River Campground is located five miles west of NC 280 on North Mills River Road - at the entrance to the National Forest. Open from April 1 to October 31, this campground offers 32 level, shady sites with flush toilets. Smaller RV's will fit into some sites and are welcome, but no water or electricity hookups are provided. Rates are $6/night. The campground is across the road from the river and a picnic area and large grassy meadow are nearby.

I saw this quetion earlier but did not respond as I have no experiance with the campgrounds locally! There is a nice looking campground in Bat Cave called Creekside Campground that I drive by everyday, I do not know if they accept pets.

Richard, thanks for the listings!! Very cool. I'm sure we'll find one in that list. I'm the same way as far as knowing camps in my local area... don't need to know about close to home. Thanks again for the help.

Don't miss Nantahala Gorge while you're here.
There are lots of beautiful places in this country
but it doesnt get much better than this.
