I've driven by Mountain Valley KOA, (1-800-562-5406) a couple of times. It's about 3 or 4 miles off I-81 at Harrisonburg. Never stayed there, it's too close to home.
It's about the closest to Harrisonburg that I know.

Hey there HAPPY! You can't go wrong with VA State Parks. Google em up and take your pick. We have personal experience with Claytor Lake State Park here in the VA Highlands and it's wonderful. You won't go wrong with any of the parks though. Good Luck and HAPPY TRAILS

On I-81 at Scranton, Pennsylvania, there is a large Petro Truck Plaza that offers RV 30 amp electric for $10 ($9 if you're a Good Sam Member). We have spent the night there several times when passing through as recently as October, 2006. It's a nice, safe place right on the highway, and the price is right. You can even get Scranton TV stations on the antenna.
