Would you be staying at the North or South rim? Big difference. North rim has no hook-up and very rustic. Now the South rim has full hook-up and is very commercialized. Lots of traffic, lot of people. To each there own. I have camped at both. Most if the big sights to see are on the South side.

include Sedona AZ in your route, Rancho Sedona is a very nice shaded campground on the north side of town..if your plans include the south rim be sure to visit the Watchman's Tower near the east gate of the Grand Canyon..and time permiting dont miss Monument Valley in southern Utah
hope you have great trip

If you're going to South Rim, then you want to stay at the Grand Canyon RV resort in Williams. Easy on/off the main hwy, close (cross trax) from Williams where you can go shopping and dine and then the Grand Canyon Rail Road is right there.
