Tampa science museum, if you get a rainy day, no reservations needed.

Gosh, what a great response to this thread in just 2 days. I am ready to load up the AS and hit all these places right now! I hopefully will be heading down that way in about 2 weeks to go the the bluegrass festival in Perry, Fl. Anybody else going to this?

We were at Top Sail, FL from 5-13 to 5-20-11, our first time there, and we loved it! Can't say enough good about it; we weren't ready to leave and go home. We were in site 117, loop 103, and were told that's the loop for the Canopener.

Something surprising happened to us. We walked most of the way to the beach, then hopped onto the tram, and road the tram back later. On the way back, the tram driver stopped and pointed out a bobcat that had just ran across the beach path (in an area we had been walking earlier!) in front of the tram. He mentioned it was a big one and at the end of the ride, reported it to the park "trapper". The tram driver said they (bobcats) are known for climbing trees and jumping down onto their prey -- does anyone have any experience with them? Just wondering. That was really scarry for us.

Here's a very nice place - albeit a little pricey - that we have stopped at quite a few times over the years.

Royal Coachman RV Resort Reservations | Nokomis Campgrounds

It is at Nokomis which is just north of Venice. Nokomis and Venice oth have very nice public beaches.

We have found Nokomis to be a good base camp for touring - it is not too far to Sarasota to the North, or to Tampa a little further North, or equally to Fort Myers and Naples to the South.

We also have stayed at Topsail and agree with all the comments!

You can stay at Lazy Days near Tampa for two nights and three days for free if you tell them you saw the deal on the internet and have never stayed there before! Free breakfast and lunch comes with the deal too! They have a nice pool as well. Check it out on the internet. We were there a week ago and it was pretty nice. The price is right.
