Fun RV Park in Palm Springs Area?
Hey Streamers!
Any recommendations for a fun RV park in the general Palm Springs area? We stayed overnight at Emerald Desert in Palm Desert during pandemic times, and frankly it was a little too fancy for us. The park was beautiful but we felt we had to put our "snooty" on, and we're looking for a place where we can be comfortable, hear some kids playing, maybe some music playing later at night, and see some activity.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your help!

Well you're not too far from the Salton Sea. Not everyone's cup of tea but I found it interesting and you certainly won't need to put on any "snooty" at any of the private or public campgrounds

It's a long ride from Palm Beach, and there is no beach nearby. 122 miles from Palm Beach to River Ranch. If you go, make sure you are stocked up, there's nothing around there But they do have a ranch based theme, the rodeo, and some other stuff going on there.
I'm not affiliated with them at all, but was just there a few weeks back.

We're heading out Wednesday for a little Mid-Cen-Mo week in Palm Springs before going down to our friends new place in San Filipe Baja (leaving the AS at the RV park).
We're staying at Caliente Springs in Palm Desert. Never been, but it looked good. Mineral hot tubs and views of the desert and mountains. It's a 55 and over park, but I think they have a sister park that is family style. So if you want to here someone else's kids making noise that may be the place.
Here's a link. I would call them about the other property, very nice people on the phone.

Have fun!

We spent some time at the Happy Traveler RV Park. Here is my review from Campendium if it helps.
Quote:
My favorite thing about this park is the location. You are within blocks of downtown Palm Springs and all of the shopping, nightlife, restaurants and more. Very rare to find a park with full amenities and this type of access.
Staff is friendly and there are lots of snowbirds and even some long-term residents. The pool and hot tub are a nice feature, as is the full laundry, showers and vending. Gay friendly location.
Sites are VERY close to one another and cars will park on both sides of the street because there isn't room for a tow vehicle plus a full 40-45' RV. This makes backing-in much more difficult. The large hedges between sites do create some privacy and most people use some sort of barrier to create a private space from the front. Just be aware that it's really tight. There is not pet run, so you have to take pets outside the park to do their business. Not a big deal.

We have visited Palm Springs many times. Checkout Cathedral Palms Rv Resort in Cathedral City, CA near PS. Website is: https://aarvparks.com/cathedral-palms/. I think it's convenient to many activities. It's an older park.
Another park that has become our favorite is the the Joshua Tree/Palm Springs KOA in Desert Hot Springs just 15 minutes away. Recently upgrades for big rigs with pull-thru's, kids play area and modernized laundry/showers in the satellite building. The best thing we like is the three hot tubs at various temperatures from the natural hot springs. Swimming pool is also heated by the springs. Park is away from the city busy, quiet at nights, has territorial views and definitely not snooty.
Visit the aerial tramway and tour the windmill farm that I found very interesting. Check if PS still does their Thursday night street fair.
Have fun in PS.

Nice park
We stayed in the Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort in Cathedral City for a month in February 2019. Loved the location half way between Palm Springs and Desert Palm. Walked to lots of restaurants. Close to hardware store, grocery stores and found a church we liked. Its just a few blocks from E Palm Canyon Drive, which has EVERYTHING.
Park is simple, pretty much a parking lot. But management was very nice, place was spotless and easy parking. 50 amp. We would stay there another month.

We have been spending the month of February down in Palm Springs for about 8 years now. Looked into towing our trailer down and found a couple of big issues as far as we are concerned. There are some very nice (fancy) RV parks that cater to motor homes predominantly. The cost is actually more than we pay for our condo. Moving out from Palm Springs there are some options which have been mentioned here.
We have been to the Happy Traveler RV Park twice to just check it out. It is centrally located as posted but I still feel you have to get into your TV if you want to get downtown. To say the sites are "tight" is an understatement. I have been towing a trailer for a few decades now and I would not even try getting my 25 into one of these spots. I have never seen a child there either. So, my big suggestion would be to do your research on whatever spot you are looking into. Call them and ask lots of questions. There are many options north of town. We looked at these as well and found a few that would work for us. When are you planning on going down? Mid April and it is already into the 90's. Make sure your AC is working.

Head on over to Desert Hot Springs.....Sam's Family Spa. Families with kids encouraged! Lots of them, especially on the weekends. Great monthly rate. And they'll pro-rate it back to you if you don't stay for the whole month. Everything in the Coachella Valley is just 20 minutes away. And the hot pools are drained every night and refilled, so they don't have to add the dreaded chlorine to their beautiful mineral water.....Been going there for 28 years. Each site has a concrete pad and a picnic table. You pay your electric bill monthly. Great mexican food at Delicias on Pearson.....Plus a whole bunch of marijuana dispensaries. What more can you ask for.

I clicked on the River Ranch link and was amazed at the vegetation they were able to maintain in the desert. The alligator had me a bit confused.

We stay at the Happy Traveler when attending Modernism Week and Emerald Desert to relax. The Happy Traveler is tight as its an older park but close to Palm Canyon Drive and in the heart of Palm Springs easy to Uber from there as well. Staff is great and friendly.

I agree with the previous post on "tight is an understatement"
as I get "Parking Anxiety" the week before we arrive. Usually you have to get all the neighbors to move their TV and may have to move decorations, potted plants, hold back the hedges and make sure you dont hit the trash cans that are mounted in front of the sites. I check the map before I arrive to see where they have us and plan my approach as the streets inside are tight as well.

I check in here from time to time to rightfully accept any comments directed at my unfortunate and mistaken post.
Gators in the Cali desert, who'd a thunk it

We stayed at Catalina for two weeks prior to our week at Emerald Desert. Two pools, both heated by the hot springs. We liked these pools more than Emerald Desert...visited in February. Catalina is Emerald Desert without the grass and polish, still gated. Great views of the mountains if you park up top, weekly rate was $280ish. I think this is probably what your looking for.

ORPS - Outdoor Resort Palm Springs
Cathedral City has a really nice RV park, ORPS. We spend 3 months a year or so down there. People are friendly, big RV pads (even I can get into them easily), great views of the mountains, two golf courses, two clubhouses with pools. In season (October thru March), the weather is mostly good. Out of season it is HOT. Good luck.
