From Calgary to Vancouver - Hw 1 or 93/95
I was thinking to go through Cranbrook
Any one of you know about that road 93 compare to the 1.
Wich one is the easiest... I mean the less hard climbing...
Thank you in advance...

Beautiful BC...
And it's not only something that you read on the plate.
It's true.
Amazing. Love those mountains.
I stay in Golden, nice campground well located to move around and see lot of major point.
Arrived at 2.30 pm. Went to Lake Louise. Itself the lake is a beauty. The hotel that face it is ugly. When you think that you need a permit to built a 8x10 barn and they were allowed to build a big block like that in such a place.
Anyhow focused on the lake and enjoyed.
Tomorrow another day.

I live just outside calgary. I go to the coast quite often. I like Hw. 3 crowsnest. There is 3 BIG long hills to go over. One by Creston, one by Osyoos, and one by Princeton. These are long steep hills 7percent grades. Need good brakes.I have a motorhome so I gear down going down hill. Hw.1 is probably better but not as scenic. Hw. 3 you will go through Cranbrook

Thank you Geirws. I am not too worried about going down. The climbing is more my concern.
As it's my first time going that west I can stay on 1 even if it's less scenic it's already beautiful.
I don't know yet. google earth is a good help to see what can be seen and it give me the taste to try every road... hard to decide.
BTW have you been to cariboo campground in Burnaby? It looks like it's close to the hw and train... sounds noisy

The Fraser Valley route is the easiest and very scenic. You will not have much snow (yes, it does snow at this time of the year in the mountains).

We had a ton of rain earlier today and high wind. It was moving out towards Hope later afternoon. Rain here this time of year frequently equates to snow just east of Hope.
Use this website for video cams of the various highways in BC and in the Lower Mainland. It will give you an immediate idea of the conditions.

If you want to be closer to the city core of Vancouver, Capilano RV Park is in North Vancouver, right across the Lions Gate Bridge. You can get to it via Highway 1, so you don't have to drive through the City.
