Fresno area campgrouds
We will be in Fresno, CA the week of Thanksgiving and are looking for recommendations for campgrounds in the Fresno and Kingsburg area. Searching online brings up a few, but we would like to hear opinions from other Airstreamers.

It would help to know what you are driving size wise and your needs. I'm not aware of any parks in Fresno per say. I know of one listed on Blackstone Ave but I would not stay there. In Kingsburg is the Riverland Resort right off Hyw 99 which is lovely. It is on the river with a pond in the middle. Nice & green for around here. Very restfull.

I would have to agree... there really aren't nice campgrounds or places to stay within the City limits of Fresno. If Kingsburg is close to your destination then I would stay at Riverland Resort. But even then nothing to brag about. When camping we try to get out of Fresno... as our Mountains and Beaches are worth while. Good Luck! If there is anything else I can help you with.... just let me know.

Kingsburg campgrounds
Thanks for the responses so far. I have drawn the same conclusion about Fresno.
Searcing for campgrounds near Kingsburg, Club Royal Oak campground comes up with high recommendations. Has anyone had any experience with this campgrond and is this a public or private campground? It looks like it may be a members only campground.

Fresno Area Campgrounds Update
We camped at Club Royal Oak RV Resort near Kingsburg for a week and found it to be a great place to camp. The sites are spacious with lots of trees and is scenic since it is right on the Kings River. This used to be a resort available only to members, but it was sold and is now public. The only thing unusual was that we arrived around 4:00 PM and the gate was closed. We called the phone number on our reservation and a campground host let us in after about 10 minutes. The office hours are 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the winter. Once we were checked in we were given a card that let us open the electronic gate to both go out and return to our camp site. We felt very secure with the security of a fenced and gated RV park. We recommend this park to anyone wanting a quiet place to camp within 20 miles of Fresno.

I forgot to mention that Club Royal Oak is out in the country away from highways, so it is very quiet!

You're within an hour to Kings Canyon NP. The Azalia and Sunset campgrounds are awesome.
