Hope you use an OLD PYREX measuring cup. They sold the trade name and it is no longer made in the USA. The glass formula has been cheapened. It will shatter much easier than the stuff we had as kids. Do not try to put it in the oven from the fridge!
As far as I know ANCHOR HOCKING still uses the original formula... and they have one large measuring cup where the measure amounts are molded into the glass, rather than painted on.
Even so, we never used the old stuff over direct flame or electric burners. We had a "diffuser" which was an 8 inch circular dish framed in tin and made of ASBESTOS. No kidding. Don't think you're going to have any luck finding a vintage one. Ah, the 1950's.
