Dennis,
My my friends are there too. Look for a 30 Foot Classic with a new (6 months old) White 2500 Ram. Tell Jason and Theresa that Kevin & Cindy said hello.
Thanks!

We’ll look for them! So far, the experience here in Lot N has been good. We’ve met quite a few Airstreamers and members of these forums, which has been nice. We parked in the corner of the N lot closest to Turn 1. It has been working out nicely. I positioned the Airstream such that our awning provides shade in the hot afternoon sun, and that was a good call. The weather has been unseasonably hot and humid, even for Austin. We have a tank pump out and fresh water refill scheduled for today, and the timing is just about right for that. Looking forward to qualifying this afternoon.
I would definitely do this again.

Overall this was a good experience, with the one exception being the weather. The extraordinary heat and humidity made the weather truly disgusting.
Lot N camping was convenient, close to the track, and easy to manage. The campsite rules were ignored by most campers, but it was all civil.
It was great to meet some fellow Airstreamers. Back on the road today!

Yes, great experience and will do it again. As mentioned the generators were going pretty much fulltime but I expected that. We camped two rows back from the gate entrance, far enough to avoid the bright spot lights (thank you large 5th wheel for blocking the bright lights) and that is about a 15 minute walk inside to Turn 12-15 just FYI.
Heat was a not much of an issue for us as we spent all day trackside under a tent and it was tolerable. Sunday morning was actually cool. Ran the A/C for 1-2 hours when we got back and opened windows until morning and there was a nice breeze to circulate air. Guess we are used to the heat and humidity. Looking forward to next year.

We didn’t mind the weather too much during the day, or even sitting out early in the evening. It was sleeping that was the tough part, mostly due to humidity.
If I had known that running generators nonstop was going to be the norm, then I would have planned accordingly and brought more gasoline. One of my next door neighbors had a huge SOB trailer that he had no idea how to operate. He constantly ran two large Champion generators that were attached to a metal rack on his trailer’s rear bumper. The only thing that was occasionally louder than his generators was him blabbing about his custom trailer that was built by a company that builds yachts that eventually went out of business because they spared no expense on trailer construction and they couldn’t continue building them like that. But he got his trailer for the bargain price of $22K!

I really wish there was a strict industry standard for generators in regards to noise level and that it was somehow enforced at RV camping sites. Personally think that is more important than allowable hours of operation, but understand that (where enforced) hours of operation is the only workable solution to generator noise. Our neighbor's generator was reasonably quiet, but unfortunately cycled depending on load and would have been better if it just had run continuously at max rpm, as the variation in noise level was a bit annoying.

Agreed. I was surprised at the number of open frame generators that I saw. Those things were really loud.

2022 COTA F1 new thread?
Hi all, I'd like to start a new thread about the COTA 2022 F1 race. in which forum should I post it? We have no experience with the Austin event and are so eager to go this year. My wife and I would love to hear about your experiences there and get your tips.
Go Max!

I think you should start a new thread. I won’t be able to make it to the Austin race in 2022. My youngest son is getting married that weekend. I’d be happy to share details of our 2021 experience. My first recommendation is to bring a generator. And bring lots and lots of gasoline.
