Forest CG Suggestions Laramie WY

We are headed west in a couple weeks and would like to spend a few nights in the Laramie WY area before heading south into CO. We prefer forest campgrounds as I need trees! We have a 25í AS. Any suggestions, fellow Airstreamers?! Thanks!

Vedauwoo campground east of Laramie, just off I-80, is great. Some beautiful and unusual rock formations. Good boondocking available outside the campground as well. A little off the beaten path, the Snowy Range southwest of Laramie is gorgeous. Great hiking, several high altitude campgrounds where you are hiking out from 10,000 plus feet instead of hiking up 2000 feet to get there. Sugarloaf CG is especially nice. It is pretty open, but the sun is welcome at that altitude. Some of the lower campgrounds have some trees - but pine beetle hit the area heavily, so they have lost a lot of trees. Still, either of these options would be great. Very scenic.

Forest CG Suggestions

Again, thank you for the suggestion of Vedauwoo Cgd near Laramie! Itís now my new favorite campground! First we registered for one night, then added five more...and then another!! Loved the big boulders providing privacy, the hiking trails, and watching the rock climbers!

We were through there in late July. I donít know how far you want to go from Laramie, but we chose to go up into the Medicine Bow NF. We were on our way to a Pinedale WY, so only spent one night in the area, but loved it. Lots of dispersed sites along the way. We are planning on going back, and spending more time there. Snowy River Pass is almost 11,000í so Iím not sure how long it stays open. Hereís our one overnight spot near there.
However, if you want to be around Laramie, itís not really very convenient.
Hope you have a great trip.

I am really glad you liked Vedauwoo! We really enjoyed it a couple of years ago when we stayed there and plan to go back over the next couple of years. Very unique place.

Vedauwoo is a special secret spot in Wyoming! Not many take the time to get off the beaten path to explore this area. I am glad someone suggested it to you and that you enjoyed your stay! When you come back through Wyoming let me know as I've got some more "secrets" to share with anyone who would like to visit!
