Hello out there!
Just joining this forum today after doing a bunch of lurking the past couple of weeks. My wife and I are on a 4 month trip, we started in a Casita 17 footer and it quickly became obvious that we needed more comfort and space. Long story short, we ended up upgrading first the tow vehicle - from a Maverick to an F150 - and secondly the trailer to an Airstream 2017 25' rear bed flying cloud. Currently in Malibu, CA and heading to Santa Barbara this morning. More to come!

Welcome. We also have a Flying Cloud but a bit older. Y’all are on a long journey. Be careful and enjoy.

Welcome!

We also have a 25-ft Airstream, a 1994 Excella rear twin. In my opinion the best all-around size and layout out there.

Looking forward to reading about your upcoming adventures.

I love this, Tim! A cross country adventure is great fun and a perfect way to really get to know your trailer. Ask me how I know

You’ll meet other Airstreamers in your travels, most all of whom will be both welcoming and helpful. Don’t be surprised if you wake up one morning to a small pink flamingo on your stairs…

Travel safely!

Tim

I am certain that you will get years of enjoyment out of your Flying Cloud! Thirty years ago, I purchased my 1964 Airstream Overlander Land Yacht International (26-feet), and it seems like it was yesterday.

My suggestion to get even more enjoyment out of your Airstream is to join the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI)/Airstream Club International (ACI) along with your closest local Unit. Membership in the club opens up the opportunity to enjoy frequent rallies with other Airstream owners in your area as well as the ability to join club rallies anywhere you travel. There are also regional rallies as well as the annual International Rally that will be held in York, Pennsylvania this year in August. In addition there are also Caravans led by members of the club covering points all over the USA and Canada. I have been a member as long as I have owned my Airstream, and became a Lifetime member in 2005 because I found the membership to be such a great value -- many of the friends that I have made have become like members of an extended family.

Good Luck with your Flying Cloud, and Safe Travels!!

Kevin

Welcome Tim, we are Airstream and trailer newbies with our 2018 International purchased in December 2024. We live in southwestern AZ and will be traveling to CT in mid-april as our 'shakedown' run .
Safe travels!

Thanks all!
A bit more info - I have a few months free from daily work demands - I'm on a sabbatical - and my wife also has flexibility in her schedule as she's doing a remote program of study. The plan is / was to drive from New York where we live out to California by the southern route, stopping in Big Bend, Carlsbad and some other amazing places, then to roll slowly up the California Coast from south to north before returning through Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and the Utah Mighty Five parks before heading home in the spring.
Our original trailer was a Casita 17' that was towable with my then-current truck, a Ford maverick with tow package. The towing worked very well and the truck managed the load very nicely, for the record, but we found the Casita just too small for full time living and studying. In Santa Fe, NM, we bought a nearly new F150 with the max tow package and traded in the Maverick, and then found the Airstream on Airstream Marketplace, private party. That was a very busy few days!!
So yes, we are living the dream, and also working out the kinks in a used trailer on the fly while doing so. It's wonderful! FWIW the trailer is overall in great condition but not as perfect as the prior owner seemed to think, and myself being a bit handy I want to tweak it here and there for our comfort. Today we're in Jalama Beach County Park in Santa Barbar County and our next stop is Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park up the coast a ways. Life is good!

Welcome!

I’ve learned volumes from the people on this forum. It’s the missing manual for your Airstream.

Welcome to the airstream fam! We have a 2017 FC 25’ rbt and have loved the layout.
Check out the airstream club page and find a rally to attend. We enjoy attending a rally somewhere in a longer trip for social reasons. Also a great way to learn more about your rig and troubleshooting. Great friendly helpful people who know their campers!

Just checking to be sure: you've downloaded both the owners manual and the parts book for yours? https://www.airstream.com/owners/man.../tt/year/2017/

I keep copies of the PDFs for ours on my computer, tablet, and phone, so that if I run into something, I have them handy....
