Finger Lakes down to Jackson, OH Recommendations?

Hi all! We are trying to pin down a good spot or two for our journey down to The Mother Ship. I just booked a spot on Seneca Lake in NY in the finger lakes region but from there down to Jackson I am at a loss. I am willing to go anywhere from central PA over to Lake Eerie on down. Anyone know any good spots along the way or even in Ohio? We will be going through around the beginning of September. I have been googling the heck out of campground reviews for places along the route and have not come up with much that looks great... Thanks for any advice you have to offer!

Try this link for State Parks in Ohio. I really like East Harbor if it would fit in for you. If you spend a little time thee a ferry out to Kellys Island is fun (kind of a party spot at night).

Letchworth State Park

You should not miss Letchworth State Park. South of Rochester, NY it is really narrow, runs along the Genesee River, includes 3 water falls, the largest over 100ft tall. Camping is available at the north end, a lodge with a nice dining room near the falls at the south end. Lots of hiking and great views into the deep gorge.

Thanks Gary and Dianne! Both of those suggestions fit in on our route. I will check into openings at those parks. We need to book labor day weekend so I need to get on it pretty quick here. East Harbor looks like a perfect stop over for a few days before hitting the repair center!

Gary have you ever stayed at Sampson State Park? It's just a hop over to the East from Letchworth.

And thanks 2Air... I know it's Jackson Center... I just shortened it up in the sentence assuming it was a given. But I appreciate you trying to keep us from driving to the wrong location!

I appreciate everyone's help!

Only Seneca

Watkins Glen State Park is awesome.. and the hiking path is great. We are two hours east of there - is that the furthest east you are coming from Illinois?

Hey Rob! We are actually in the East headed West right now! Currently in Camden, ME with our next stop in Orford, NH. Sampson State Park (where we are booked for the last week of August is just North of Watkins Glen on the map... maybe we can drive down for a day hike since you have recommended it!

I have been trying all day to figure out where the heck we are going to spend Labor Day weekend... all the recommended state parks are showing as comepletely booked for those three days. Bleh. Walmart... here we come! And I thought I was getting on this in plenty of time! Lesson learned!

Pennsylvania?

There's an Airstream only park in western PA, Penn Woods. Nice but find it in daylight!

I just emailed to see if we can get in there. I think I am finally working this out! I booked a few nights at Letchworth and the AS park in PA would be a perfect segway over to East Harbor...then we can shoot down to Jackson Center! Everyone cross your fingers we can squeeze in a Labor Day spot at this AS park! If so the route will be settled....much thanks to all of you for your suggestions!

We have courtesy parking!

We are half way between Oneonta and Cortland just off the SR23. It's a very nice country drive from Oneonta or Cooperstown over to Watkin's Glen from here, or to Ithaca and then to Seneca Lake. Stop in. Would love to show ya the SOTR.

Thanks Rob! If we can we certainly will. My boyfriend is a landscape painter and I am sure the area is very paintable. Maybe we will drive on through looking for stuff to put on canvas and stop in... I will give you a heads up if we are going to make it that way.
