Finding Road Conditions
When trying to avoid as much snow as possible, anyone recommend a website, or 800 phone #, that keeps you up with current road conditions ahead?

Bill,
In California, the CHP has a road condition number and web site. Other states may have similar through either state road maintenance or law enforcement agencies.

The national weather service (weather bureau to a lot of us) will give lots of info on weather. NOAA's National Weather Service They used to have links to road conditions, but their newest local website leaves it out.

Here's one to try. I've not used it but it was given to me some time back - I've just not had occasion to use it yet - hope it works.

I entered NY but you can use any two letter designation for whichever state you're interested in. Good luck.

511 is a lot of states has become the road condition number.
