I’m on my second AIrstream, and I’ve been assembling a list of my favorite trailer gadgets - things that make my AS more enjoyable. Here’s a few to start:
Cooking
- Weber Go-Anywhere Grill. I use this daily, at $50 it is better than my $2000 BBQ at home. I added a hose that allows me to hook up my 5lb propane tank instead of the little 1lb canisters. Also replaced the internal flavor bar with a stainless steel one I found on Amazon. Been using this since 2013 and it still works great!
- Southwest Disc Discada. For about $150, this steel plow based cooker is amazing. Perfect for breakfasts and essential for carne asada or carnitas, it is the perfect companion to the Weber. The 18” one is sized perfect for the AS. You’ll need to buy the propane burner too, and worth buying the cover for the discada.

- induction hot plate. Since buying this, I’ve all but stopped using my propane stove top. Controls temp better, boils water in 3 min, and stores easily. I bought a Nuwave.
- collapsible silicon mixing bowls. Save so much space.
- small rice cooker. Cooking rice any other way is a pain
- Ninja Foodi. We’ve used this 3x a day for the past 20 months, as we remodeled our house and lost the use of our kitchen. Short of boiling water, there’s nothing this amazing gadget can’t too - air fryer, insta-pot, slow cooker, sauté, steamer. If I had to pick one gadget only, it might be this one.
Outside
- Kermit chairs. I bought the XL versions with the optional metal feet. If you don’t know about Kermit chairs, look them up as they are legendary among motorcycle travelers for their comfort and they pack down super small. Pricey for a camp chair but made of strong oak and they will last a lifetime.

- Coleman aluminum table. Great sturdy table that packs down nice and only $40.
