I was driving south on Route 28 near Dulles Airport yesterday and came up next to a Ford truck with 6 (yes 6!) doors on it! It was a dually diesel about model year 95 or 96 I would guess. Don't know if Ford made a speciality vehicle for some specific purpose. There was a middle eastern woman I believe driving it (her face was not hidden, but she had a scarf type garment attached to her head). Very unsual truck. Looks like it could have been a taxi down in Mexico or something.
Yes, they had a special on Discovery or one of those types of channels where they make custom and other mods to trucks. One of the initial mods was placing crew cabs mods on trucks, well before crew cabs were out there.
They are still making them, there are several companies that do it. There is one in Pittsboro, NC that does them. Our competion has a whole fleet of short bed 6 door F350's that they use a crew trucks. The current fleet is mostly '02 and 03's. I have seen several 96 era, F350 dually, crew cab/plus cab conversions, the most recent had a 10' tool body on it too...talk about turning radius I think the QE II would be able to manuver better.
