East Coast camping

I am curious to know here folks are camping during this time. We live on the Eastern shore of Md and many camp sites are open. I am wondering what is available to the North, South and West of us as I would like to get out of Dodge in August and the Fall. thanks

Prince William Forest, in Dumfries, is open. Just spent a month there. Maybe too close ...

There are a lot of campgrounds along the 95 corridor that are open. I have found that the private campgrounds have always been open, just with different approaches to the restrictions. I’ve stayed at a few throughout NC and VA and had no problems getting reservations (as long as you’re self-contained).

Check out Pipestem State Park in West Virginia. I was there last weekend and it was in the mid 70s. Park and amenities are fully opened with some distancing requirements and capacity limitations for everyone’s protection.

One nice campground is even allowing tent campers with the proviso that they bring a port-a-pot, a shower tent and a kiddie pool and dump their waste in a sewer hookup line. They installed some kind of low profile funnel around the sewer hookup so that the kiddie pool (shower water catchment) could just be tipped into the sewer line.

The owner asked me not to mention the camp name or location... seems the local law types don't get that this is self-contained minus the slinky.
