Dryer Sheets vs Love Bugs
My wife loves to clean things. It is a blessing. This morning she was out before the heat arrived washing the 'stream and the truck. Both were pelted with love bugs from our trip the day before. The trailer also had a big spot of road tar.
I walked out when she was putting the cleaning things away. (good timing) She was over joyed, ecstatic, bubbling with enthusiasm for her new (old ) discovery. It seems that if you wet down the vehicle then take a dryer sheet to the bugs they come magically off the machine. The tar too.
I don't really care how it works it just does. And if wife is happy I'm happy too. Thought y'all needed a reminder.

They like white trucks. Same parking spot. They didn't hang out so bad when we had a black truck. But the new WHITE truck is like a magnet. They just hover around it when it is parked in the sun.

I use something that every guy has in his tool kit...😂👍
WD40.
It also works well on the AS, especially the stainless segment protectors.

Just after my wife finished changing the flat tire she noticed the squashed bugs so I ran inside got a hand full of the sheets and she went to work on them.
Thanks for the tip!

The dryer sheet idea really works. I've used it several times. I recall researching why it works but don't remember the details - maybe starch? Who knows, who cares? It works.
A word of caution... The dryer sheets don't scratch the paint on a car or the clear coat on an Airstream. The dead bugs "parts" don't seem to scratch paint on a car or the clear coat on an Airstream. HOWEVER, a piece of dirt embedded into the dryer sheet can do some serious damage to the paint on a car and the clear coat on an Airstream! Be careful, change dryer sheets as often as needed to ensure you are not scrubbing the surface of your tow vehicle or trailer with the equivalent of a steel wool pad.

Came across this thread searching for something else, and decided to give it a try.
Wow! The damp dryer sheet really did a number of the bugs and accumulated gunk on my rock guards today. I was really impressed. Finished up with another wet micro fiber towel and was amazed how clean everything turned up.
What a great resource Airforums is!

Next time spray the dryer sheet with WD-40. Works great (avoid anyplace with adhesive, like the Airstream lettering.)
But my last attempt to erase love bugs** I tried "Bugs and all". Gotta say I was impressed. You mix 2 oz in the 32 oz spray bottle with water and soak the critters, then wipe away.
** Love bugs. They are insects that leave the ground in May and September in the south to mate. While mating, they fly around together and splat on any vehicle. By the hundreds.

I've started using spray peroxide. Wal mart has it. Spray on the critters let it fizz and wipe off.

I have also heard that a dryer sheet in your closets or drawers help keep away moths and mice.
They may also be effective at scaring away squirrels, crows, snakes, elephants and Bonobos. I can't say for sure, but ever since putting those sheets in my drawers, I haven't seen any type of pachyderms or monkeys for miles around.

SkyGuy, you put dryer sheets in your drawers?! I have to say, I feel like that's kind of a waste. Every time I pull my drawers out of the dryer there's already a sheet staticked to em anyway!
But seriously folks, this is a great double-duty thread. Easy removal of bug guts is a win by itself, but if dryer sheets drive off mice then I'll change my handle to Snuggle out of respect. Hell, I might change my handle to Snuggle even if they don't!
