Do You Use a TPMS?

Just curious how many use a TPMS...

Thanks,
John

Yes, as our 20FC is a single-axle, I use TPMS. My Sierra has it built-in, I just had the sensors mounted in the trailer's tires. Works great, tells temperature in addition to the pressure.

I sure do, for me personally it relies a lot of stress knowing where your PSI is for each trailer tire. Mine also gives tire temperature, but I primarily focus on pressure...
Once you've had a flat tire, you'll really appreciate one of these. I went with the TST TPMS and am very pleased.

Yes indeed. I can watch pressure and temperature from the cab and not worry about what is going on back there as much.

When we got a new tow vehicle ('21 RAM HD 6.4, found it a on a dealer's lot) it had the factory trailer TPMS system that came with 4 sensors and displays on the dash Uconnect screen. Great! So I didn't have to buy a separate trailer TPMS setup.

(my AS is on order with an estimated November delivery)

Yes I do, and suggest you have one too. Mine is TireMinder and it has both pressure and temperature. Multiple solutions available, take your pick but do get one.

No.

Hi, No I do not have a tire pressure monitoring system and don't plan for one in the future. Just one more distraction to watch while driving and could be much more dangerous than getting a flat tire. I have not used a spare tire in over two decades. I visually inspect my hitch and tires at every rest stop, every gas station, and every camp ground.

Yes; the system is from Ford and displays as one of the screens that can be called up in the instrument cluster in my F250. Additionally, there are visual and audible warnings that show up if tire pressure drops too far below an adjustable threshold.

I wouldn't tow without a TPMS. It's an essential safety feature, IMO, and is no more of a distraction than monitoring any of the other important things one should be paying attention to when driving.

Yes. I still think it is the best upgrade I've done.
Not only do I watch it as I drive, but it's for lazy people packing up.
Why go around with a tire gauge when you can simply turn the monitor on and check all tires without bending over!
TST cap sensors for me.

2020 Silverado 2500HD has the system and I like it. No need to watch tire pressures, the system will issue a warning if a tire has a problem. If you've ever blown a trailer tire you'll appreciate being able to monitor pressures and temps on the trailer. Also, no need for an additional display in the truck.

Yes, I use one. I have found 2 low tires due to screws through them on the truck in the 3 years I have been using the TPS. I have had no problems on the trailer. Found both leaks in the AM and could deal with them instead of a flat on the interstate. I do not consider the TPS necessary to towing. Just a nice accessory if you have the money and time to spend on it. My system had a learning curve for me. And I have had to replace more sensors than I thought I would. Right now all 8 are working fine.

It is reassuring to glance at the TPS starting out in the morning and see that everything is pumped up where it should be. But..a walk around and a little thumping each day will do about the same thing.

Yes

TPMS is relatively cheap. Airstream damage due to blown tires is expensive and not fun at all.

I often find it interesting when folks say the they don't have something because they've "never had a problem".

I've never had a house burn down, fortunately, but like most people I still own fire/homeowner's insurance. Bottom line, a TPMS is simply cheap insurance that can keep a minor event (losing tire pressure) from becoming a major one.

Nope. I’d rather keep my eyeballs on my tires at each point I can visually look at them/touch them. I’d rather focus on operating my vehicle and traffic around me. One less electronic distraction. Same for gps. No thanks.

There's nothing that keeps you from checking tires visually at stops AND having a TPMS. I use both methods since plenty can happen on the road between visual inspections. And with visual and audible alerts from the TPMS if something goes wrong, there's no need to constantly check the TPMS display if one feels uncomfortable about having too many other things to monitor while driving.

Whatever. To each his own.
