Did You Bring Your Leaf Blower

I admit I have not been camping for many years, and perhaps I am not familiar with the modern rules of campground society. It's a lazy Friday afternoon, sun in the sky after a full week of rain, and most are in their chairs outside getting some sun.
This gentleman across from me unpacks and fires up his very own leaf blower, and proceeds to blow his campsite from stem to stern. I don't get it.

He sold his estate and is now full timing.
Misses the yardwork.
And the leafblower didn't sell at the garage sale so he brought it with. .

One reason I go camping is to get away from those things, but in the end I just get to listen to the one person in camp running his/her jobsite generator so they can sit inside watching TV with the Air on.

Did You Bring Your Leaf Blower

Wow. At least that isn’t an AS in the background?

What brand leaf blower and what gauge extension cord was he using? AGM or lithium powered? Mine is lithium powered. Can run that sucker until the batteries are way lower than 50%.

Maybe he hates leaves and grass. He parked on the grass!

Leaf Lives Matter!

Hopefully he got it done quickly and you were able to enjoy the rest of your day.

Thanks for the laugh!

Hi

Leaf blower ... didn't have room for it. The wood chipper and chain saws ( one is never enough ) took up to much room

Are you in Missouri?

I have seen someone do this at a campground at Lake of the Ozarks. I feel if people don't want to be bothered by leaves maybe they should consider renting a vacation condo and just sitting on a balcony.
Leaf blowers make me crazy under all circumstances, but I would be pretty enraged if someone pulled one out at an adjacent campsite.

Yes, I genuinely don't understand why some people camp when they don't seem to enjoy being outside.

Hard to imagine but maybe it's one of the conditions from his spouse/partner to go camping/glamping with him.

Hi

Maybe somebody had a bad experience with some wet leaf cover a while back ..... that's why I bring the wood chipper, had a branch almost stick me in the eye once. Trees all have to go ...

Those 5th wheel's have big storage compartments. He did it cause he can.

Me, I have to use a broom. …...often..... on the mat outside and the floor inside. If we don't keep the mat clean the dog (not me) brings the dirt and leaves inside.

Better a leaf blower once or twice than a open frame generator all day and night.

One has to assume that this guy made a number of trips before he started carrying his own leaf blower. One can imagine him sitting in his campsite hating the leaves. “Why do we have to camp where there are leaves?” he asks himself. Finally the light goes on in his head, “Aha! I'm going to bring a leaf blower and then I can blow all of these leaves into other campsites and out on the road! Why did it take me so long to think of that!” This would make a good theme for the rat in the “Pearls Before Swine” comics. You can't make this stuff up, folks.

I was taught to leave a site better than I find it. A little clean up is better than tossing cigarette butts on the ground and trash in the fire ring.

I always leave my site cleaner of trash and bottle tops and such than found but do not consider leaves to be trash. I leaf them as found

Broom here too. If I had the space I would bring a leaf blower to clean the space up. Only a few parks I’ve been too take the time to blow the debris clear and I appreciate it when they do that and fuss when I come upon a site that has not been cleared. This is especially true when we arrived at a site near Jackson WY and the previous campers felt it was ok to leave the pet hair that I presume they brushed off their much loved four legged friend, on both the picnic table and the ground where we would step out of our camper.

I've always hated those things. And remember when one first showed up in our neighborhood, all the neighbors were looking at each other and shaking our heads.

Leaping forward to may this year, I vollunteered at a state park here in Fl panhandle. It's a day use park so no campers or visitors till opening time.
First chore of the day pulling a large 15 hp blower all around the paved parts of the park. Often used a small gas powered blower out the left side of the golfcart to get that side. It sure does look well groomed but, I learned to love my earmuffs.

Using a leaf blower in preparation of making a campfire can increase safety.

Edit; at least it was an electric one, much quieter than a gas one.

I think some people just can't leave home behind. Here's another one - We were sitting out at our camping spot in Taos, NM a few weeks ago and a couple pulls into their spot and, instead of moving their unit a foot or so forward or backward so one of the slides could clear one of the (very few) trees he just takes out his tree loper and cuts off entire tree branches! We felt obligated to ask if they thought maybe he should ask permission at the office before he cuts entire branches off of the park's sparse trees. They didn't blink an eye - they must just do this as a matter of course as they travel the country ....

I've seen it several times as well, mostly with the pusher class a crowd. I'm with the others and just use our broom. It's always a battle to keep leaves, grass clippings and such out of our trailer so if I had a place to store one I would probably bring mine along. Other than the obvious function of blowing off an unkempt site they are also useful for blow drying vehicles/trailers to keep water spots at bay after a wash.

I carry an electric leaf blower since I’m full timing. Don’t use it much but when staying a month at an RV Park in the fall with trees around it comes in handy to blow leaves off the AS roof and patio area. Wish I could use it to blow campfire smoke away from our Airstream.
