Devil's Tower

Is there RV parking so we can see the Tower and not have to camp?

From the park website they say:
A Car/RV with Trailer

You may park in the visitor center lot or in the long vehicle parking lot near the picnic area. Long vehcle parking is limited at the visitor center lot.

We highly recommend you drop your trailer in the long vehicle parking lot near the picnic area and proceed with just your passenger vehicle.
It's worth a visit! Pretty cool...

The website may have that information, in a current and up-to-date form?

https://www.nps.gov/deto/index.htm

They can probably tell you on the phone IMO.

In these days of Covid travel, calling each location directly may be the best bet.

Please let us know what they tell you.

That may be old info IMO.

In another part of the site it says the visitor parking lot is under construction.

Call.

See at the top of this page:

https://www.nps.gov/deto/planyourvisit/parking.htm

In the middle of the page, expand the "Car/RV with trailer" heading for more details.

Call IMO.

There are a few RV parking spots along the visitor center road, but when we were there it was a zoo because the parking is so limited. Did a turn around, took some pics and left. There may be parking elsewhere, but may be a good distance from the monument

There is a KOA Devils Tower across the road from which you can see the tower. In addition, there is a campground on the monument grounds (Belle Fourche River Campground) also with views of the tower.

We dropped our trailer in a lower lot, they directed us to do so. It was pretty easy.

Thanks, was this in 2021, or maybe your 2019 trip?

I recommend camping there if you can. It's a nice place to stay, and doing so gives you more time for a nice hike or two around the tower, to visit the big prairie dog town between the tower and the campground inside the park, and to watch the rock climbers.Click image for larger version

I was there a year and a half ago. The park itself is very small. I don't remember any RV parking, but I also wasn't looking. The road takes you to the visitor center and doesn't make a circle.
However, there is a very large KOA almost in the shadow of the tower, I was there in September and it had lots of spaces open. Then you're only a short hop into the park.

This would have been 2015. Sadly, we won’t be crossing the US again until 2023, we go to my wife’s family in Portugal in the off year and the pandemic has forced us to miss a trip

Alaska may just be a dream at this point. If we don’t do it as a family, then it will be a retirement trip.
