The native Americans that once lived in that area have a wonderful story about Devils Tower and how it rose from the ground as a tree stump......it's a beautiful story, you may want to google it while you're there.
Did you stay near there? We are headed that way next week. Plan to stay in Spearfish SD and go up for the day. Or can we do s drive by on our way east to Spearfish?? Nice Photos.
Drive by is tough as there is very little parking up at the base of the tower. A day trip works fine or, stay a night at the campground! Granted, it is dry camping but a beautiful setting.

Nice! I'm glad you obviously had good weather. We were there for 5 days in late May and never saw the sun once; even had snow. It was still a nice place to visit.

Thanks for the advice. We will go with our plan to stay in Spearfish City Park. Recommend by another Airstreamer.
We are staying at the KOA right at the park entrance. Right below the tower. Full hookups. Plus they play the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind every night, lol
The KOA at the park entrance is great. We stayed there several nights. There is a beautiful river with red cliffs, and deer and turkey frequent morning and evening.
