Catskills

I am planning a trip to the Catskills in late August. We will be there about 4 days. I've never been to the area before and was curious about the "must see" areas.

I definitely want to plan a day in Cooperstown at the Baseball HoF.

I saw information about Meadow-Vale campground and was thinking of staying there. So any comments about this campground would be helpful.

As always, any input appreciated! Thanks!

Kaaterskill Falls and Haines Falls in the Tannersville, Palenville and Haines Falls area. You can drive right to Kaaterskill Falls. Haines Falls is a short hike. For hiking try the Escarpment Trail.Last time I was there was in the 70s.

Funny, leaving for EastvDurham tomorrow, vending at Irish Festival. I love Woodstock, there is a very pretty State Park there, Wilson I think. Good hiking all around, Phoenicia intersting little place. The state Park sites small except few on the end near fiels, those were big, secludd and beautiful. I loved it. There is als rail trail biking up that way and a Campng World.

We saw a grey wolf in the Catskills early one morning 5-6 years ago.

Came tearing out of underbrush, chasing a deer....which it apparently did not catch, as we saw it return about 15 minutes later.

Yes, a wolf. A grey one. .

If we hadn't seen it come back, we might have always been unsure if it was actually a wolf.

It was.

We made reservations at Meadow-Vale campground near Cooperstown, NY. Looks like a nice park and it gets good reviews and it appears to be in a good location.

Since I've never been to the Catskill area. I appreciate the recommendations on what to see and if anyone any other "must see" sights please let me know.

Thanks!

If you fly fish, try the Neversink river as well as several other rivers in the southern Catskills. Roscoe is the hub for info on fishing the area.
