Yes. Several North East states are in the 60s by state, the best as of July 21. They are a long way from us. Washington State is our gateway to the US, and they have just reached 50%

But if we head east from there, Idaho is at 37% and Montana is at 44%. The bigger problem is that the vaccination rates have slowed significantly.

My take on this article was that the border from Canada into the US will remain closed. But the border from the US into Canada opens August 9.

I believe that this was quoting a statement issued by the US government as well as Canadian government.
Closed to nonessential travel both ways till at least August 21.
If the cases keep going up as they seem to be doing again,it could be longer.

Correct.

It helps to think of it as two borders. The US border is controlled for entry, not exit, by the US. The Canadian border is controlled for entry, not exit, by Canada.

That's based on the current rules which change on Aug. 9.

DON'T trust the Canadian govenment

they have been saying they will open for a year. we had reservations for last August and had to flip them all to MT, SD, WY, ID.
Even if they do open up, it will be difficult to get reservations at good RV parks.
Skip Canada until next summer, or they stop whimping out.

There have been month to month renewal of restrictions, but no announcements to open. I've been closely watching announcements about border travel in both directions because I've been separated from my extended family in Michigan. Never once has there been an indication that the Canadian border would open until the recent announcements for Aug. 9. On the 21st of each month the closure has been extended to the next month. That never meant that it would open then, only that that was as far ahead as they were announcing.
I agree that it will be very hard to get reservations for those who don't already have them. Campers who have stayed with us through Boondockers Welcome have said that it's very hard to find space in campgrounds. You might get something through Boondockers Welcome/Harvest Hosts.

Right now I wouldn't recommend traveling to interior British Columbia. Forests are tinder-dry, there are a lot of forest fires, and the air quality is terrible due to smoke. The beautiful views around here are invisible due to all of the smoke. Plus it's just hotter than blazes. A lot of local RVers are staying home to escape the heat.

Maybe wait till we've had a few rain showers.

Pres. Biden recently said that the US border will not open anytime soon due to concerns about the Covid Delta variant. I believe that if you are a US citizen returning home from Canada, however, the US will let you back in regardless of the reasons for traveling. Worth confirming if you hope to travel north.

If you are entering Canada (and are given the choice) it's probably better to do the second COVID test at the border rather than taking a kit to do later. My sons came back today after a weekend in the US and they opted to bring the kits home rather than being tested at the border. They had to wait in an online queue for the video call where someone walks you through the testing and watches while you do it. Each of them had to be logged in and it took well over 2 hours before they were able to do the tests which we have to put out for pickup by a courier tomorrow. It's not too bad to have to do at home, but would be difficult if you were somewhere without reliable internet.

If you go to this page (https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/tr...ng-into-canada) and scroll down to Land border test providers you can see whether a test at the border will be available and how to book it. I'm not sure if they always have to be booked ahead, my sons said that the agent just asked if they wanted to take the test to do at home or do it at the border.

Too unpredictable, not worth the hassle. Spend your time and treasure in places that aren't afraid of you.

That's exactly what I'm doing! I'd like to visit my family in Michigan but America seems to be afraid to let me in.

But I do agree with you, if I was on the other side of the border I doubt I would jump through all the hoops just for a vacation.
