Twin Lakes
Camped at Site 8 at the Lakeview campground near Twin Lanes Colorado July 10 to 15. 9700 feet in elevation. Fly fishing on Lake Creek near the Continental Divide and kayaking on Twin Lakes. The skies were very hazy from the Western wildfires.
First, picture is our campsite, and second picture is from the surface of Twin Lakes (about 300 feet below our campsite on the right of the picture of Mount Elbert, one of the fourteeners.) Picture three is my DW getting ready to fish near the Continental Divide.

Nice campsite! Mt Elbert isn’t just one of the
Fourteeners, it’s the highest in Colorado and in the Rockies. It’s also perhaps one of the easiest peaks to
Visit, an easy hike up. A buddy and I did it in ‘96 one afternoon while recovering from a more serious hike days earlier to Blanca Peak in the Sangre de Christo further south. In fact, my feet were trashed from that adventure with blisters so bad I could only wear flip flops but was not a problem on the Elbert hike.
Oh to be young again!

The learning experience was just that a learning experience ...However I would not recommend taking ANY trailer (pop up ok) to the NHP. It was pure torture, 13 miles of Hell for any trailer.
The history was amazing and the campsites were nice. Would I do it again...NO! Would I go there for a day trip(TV only) YES!

Lake Como - Near Darby, MT
A few years back we were heading for Idaho from Glacier in MT and hope to pull into the CG at Lake Como. It was mid-Sept and unfortunately the CG was closed for the season. Took a chance on driving a FS road above the CG and found this spot. Had a great evening there including strong cell and internet.

Glacier CG- Columbia Falls, MT
Spent almost a week a few years back at this wooded campground just outside the west entrance to Glacier. Nice folks, reasonable with water and power and good base camp to exploring the park. After Labor Day weekend, moved to the koa down the streets when their rates dropped. Had to leave that park when they were closing at the end of the season and the snows were starting. Probably pretty busy out there today I bet!

Stone State Park - Sioux City IA
If you ever find yourself near Sioux City, this is a nice wooded CG with water and electric, a few miles off the interstate north of town.

Lake Eufaula SP - OK
Those long treks across flyover country can have some nice surprises. Beautiful lake and CG with water and electricity.

Perry's RV- RED LODGE MT
Beautiful CG with wooded sites along a gorgeous trout stream. Our caravan of two AS and two SOBs had a blast, family and friends! Red Lodge is a treat with some good restaurants and interesting people. Also the northern entry point for the Beartooth Parkway! Awesome. While the campground was beautiful, the electric infrastructure was aging and poor. Surprisingly, it was pretty hot here in early September even in the evening at elevation!

Archway RV Park - Mt. Vernon IL
Archway is a frequent stop on our western adventures from our camp on Lookout Mountain in NW GA. The folks there are very accommodating even when they a full up, allowing us to boondock on their property at no charge when we arrived after dark without a reservation.

Lake Mary CG- Estes Park
Decent CG with full hookups near Estes Park and Glorious RMNP, with family.
Emerald Lake Trail with views of Longs Peak and views from Trail Ridge. Nice for exploring the park and Estes Park while waiting for our turn at RMNP campground.
