I hope you do! Runoff/mud season is in full swing right now but hopefully it will be better then. Most of the rivers where I fish are blown out right now. Maybe you’ll get lucky and the stone fly hatch will come a little early. Fishing dry flies durning the stone fly hatch is one of my favorite things!

Colorful Colorado

Glad to see DaveP and DennisC out there enjoying Colorado fishing! Just returned from a great 45 night trip out west. Last stop in CO was at Eagle Soaring RV near Steamboat and the Yampa River.

Glenwood Vicinity

Enjoyed a week at the Silt CO KOA visiting old haunts around Aspen, the Fryingpan River, Marble, Redstone and Rifle. Great hike in the Maroon Bells. Even some fresh snow in the mountains in late May!

Crusty Butt

Spent a couple of nights in Crested Butte CO, at the Crested Butte RV "Resort" on the beautiful Slate River. The nearby ski resort founded years ago by fellow Georgian Bo Callaway.

Ridgway State Park

Enjoyed a week at a favorite spot in the Gorgeous San Juan Mountains. Got skunked at Pa Co Chu Puk and Uncompahgre River but still managed a trout dinner out of the ponds with the family. Even a Lunar Eclipse! Visited the snow capped vistas around Ouray, Telluride and Ophir!

Nice pics! More places to try in CO, and motivation to plan that bucket list trip to far northeast..

That’s one of our favorite parts of the state. We usually manage to pull a few trout out of the Uncompaghre River below the dam. Ouray is a great little town.

We visited Crawford years ago by motorcycle. Someone gave us directions to Joe's house. "Turn right at the Post Office, go a ways, Oh, you'll find it!"
As we were scratching our heads, I looked at a billboard, but it was actually the layout of all the ranches. I saw "Mad Dog Ranch" and we found it. Wow!
Back then Joe's wife Pam ran a little diner in town called "Mad Dog Cafe". If you arrived by motorcycle you got a free pin or bandana! We also got a tour of the back room with all of Joe's gold records on the wall.
When you realize Crawford didn't have a red light, you wondered why Joe moved there, a mansion on a gravel road. I suspect he was just a regular guy in town.
That 'rock' is visible for miles, and also marks the road to the north rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

First Trip

Our first camping trip. One quick night at a campground before abandoning camp for my in-laws and a 50amp socket. We had battery issues and had to cut our campground experience exhort. But still spent a week staying in our trailer and had an opportunity to get quite a few projects done.

Thanks for the historical info. My old roommate lived in Glenwood/Basalt for many years as a guide on the Frying Pan and he mentioned the Cocker connection to Crawford when we spoke while we were in the area in May.
