Pitch Perfect Campground, NH A lovely spot run by a woman who grew up at this farm, free range child, before turning it into a campground 4 years ago. Pretty private and peaceful.

A well used three day site at Anthony Lakes Campground in Eastern OR.

That’s Gunsight Mountain through trees.

Been out of cell coverage for a while but figured this on from last night at Bridge Bay in Yellowstone says it all. Through the rear window.

Kaibab Camper Village (Jacob Lake, AZ)… here to co-host a club rally at the North Rim. Heavy monsoonal rains set-in soon after this picture, but that’s really good given the drought situation in the West.

Anniversary

Spent the last six days at one of our favorite fly fishing campgrounds (Eleven Mile SP). It also happened to be our 45 anniversary!! Cheers!

Where is this park?

I like parks with fly-fishing opportunities.

The park is near Lake George CO. We fish the "Dream Stream" which is in between Spinney Reservoir and Eleven Mile Reservoir. Also Eleven Mile Canyon below the reservoir. Great fishing on the feeder streams flowing into Spinney, too.

Congrats on the anniversary! That’s a great campground! We visited last in 2017. My Ford gps took me on the wrong road however and after 15 miles of horrendous rough gravel road, we ended up on the other side of the lake! Another 10 miles back tracking and we made the correct turn to the CG. About halfway thru this misadventure, we stopped to check the inside the trailer and the microwave was about halfway out of place, doors in the bath room and kitchen were off their hinges and I thought the wife was going to shoot me! That night was spent putting things back together with toothpicks and superglue lol! Live and learn. Of course my brother in law made the correct turn and was waiting for us. “Where in the hell have you guys been?”

About 10 years earlier one of my fishing buddies and I fished the Dream Stream with a guide out of Breckinridge and I caught my first large Brown and a couple of good rainbows. Best fly experience I ever had short of Alaska.

So the next day after my wrong turn, brother-in-law and I drive to the DS. I had convinced him we would kill it but I had neglected one important element.

The Guide. Well, we are a couple of fly hacks but BIL managed to catch a couple of nice ones and of course I got skunked. Was a great trip though in our new Airstreams and we both did better at Pa-Co- Chu Puk
at Ridgway SP!

Have the smoke and fires been bad? We are supposed to be heading for WY end of this month but are a bit concerned. Thanks

Dave

I'm chuckling. The first time we went Eleven Mile five years ago, we went to the west side of the reservoir. The gravel road was so rough, our kitchen faucet vibrated open and dumped all of our fresh water. Most went in the gray tank, but about five gallon went on the kitchen floor. Turning off the water pump is now on our check list. And we now camp on the east side of the reservoir!

The smoke has been bad the last 6 weeks. Really hazy and catches in my throat, but I have asthma. In two weeks we go to Dinner Station on the Taylor River (west side of the divide). Hoping the smoke lays down before that. It will be our first time there. Fly fishing in the river and feeder streams is supposed to be really good this year. We will see!!

We had some things to do in Tucson: Catalina State Park in July. Thankful for A/C, and monsoon rains. Left before the creek flooded….

Just returned from Paonia State Park (Colorado) (Hawsapple Campground; site 6). North Fork of the Gunnison River just on the other side of the trailer, although water levels are extremely low this time of year and the water is muddy from the mudslides near Glenwood Canyon from the burn last year. Gorgeous area and only 3 sites at the end of the road where this site was. Friendly deer also felt comfortable enough to lie down next to our tent pad while we were sitting outside. (Can't figure out how to post portrait photos!) Downsides: No electricity and no water (if those things are important to you.) And I wouldn't want a much bigger rig than our 25'er. The turns were a squidge tight.

Finally, a campground I have actually visited. Really nice proximity to the lake. I drove past this place a ton in my younger days as a friend's family cabin was down the Fallen Leaf Lake road across the street from here.

I just got back from a quick 10,000 mile x-country trip and there were NO vacancies the whole way so I assume people who are out camping now had reservations for months. I was lucky to hit up rest stops along the way each night. Amazing how many miles you can do in a day if you are not sight seeing, and just trying to avoid the heat. Hit 116° and 101° overnight in Nevada, !
