Stan, we did not with Airstream. We did camp there in 1986 and it is amazing how much the forest had changed in 30 years. Back then, the road was much more open and there had apparently been a recent fire as there were cut up logs everywhere. The campsite was in plain view of the lake and the sites were very primitive. No host nor reservations nor fee. We had it to ourselves and to the seemingly tame white tails that wandered past our truck camper. We had a big bonfire (cold for southerners in September) and enjoyed the wildness of it all!
Great memory! The view of the lake and the mountains had not changed except for NPS boat, dock and ranger station that did not exist in 1986.

We did talk with the camp host who were actually from the Atlanta area and they had a small Casita. They said it was even tight getting that unit into the CG. Still a gorgeous place. Did not make it to Kinta. Maybe next time.

Yeah RFP, you would... for sure! It's just beautiful there. Kind of off-the-beaten-path, not crowded or over commercialized, sea turtles, sunsets and a dog friendly beach.

Tent camped at site 3 in Delancy East Campground in the Ocala National Forest near Palatka, FL. If I were in the Airstream I would have camped in site 26. Not crowded, only 3 of 29 sites were occupied on a Thursday in February. Dry camping is the way to go if you want to avoid the crowds.
