Campsite Hunting Around KC

We are headed up to Nebraska this weekend but our destination is a two day trek. We are hunting for a campsite near KC (either KS or MO) that has rates for Electric hookups as this will be a quick over night stop. So far using Goodsam, campgroundreviews.com, and woodalls I have found only full hookup rates and they are hight. Anyone have any suggestions?

We are looking to get at least to KC but don't mind driving a bit farther.....

I've stayed several times at Weston Bend State Park just north of Kansas City about 10 minutes off I-29. It's pretty nice and the sites are spread out. It's the typical state park rate of about $20 per night for an electric site.

Here's the link to my blog entry for the visit: http://web.mac.com/skmentz/Welcome/H...e_Camping.html

Thanks! That looks really promising. Do you have to make reservations or just show up?

I just showed up, but it was March. I think you'd be fine if you arrived on a weekday, but you should really get a reservation if it will be on the weekend. The Missouri State Parks are popular, especially the ones located near the big cities.

We tried to make a reservation but we waited too late. Apparently you have to be more than 24 hours before arrival. I think we are still going to attempt it. we are trying to call them but no one answers.

I would. It's a nice spot. You can call the CG and make sure.

Weston Mo is a great little town and close enough to go to KC if you wanted to. There is also an RV resort in that area just in case.

Have a great trip.

No KC this time. We are trying to get back to the regularly scheduled trip. You know the one planned before the A/C replacement became necessary. However I am sure we will be back!

Wow! That's all I can say except what a shame it is that we only get a single night here. What we saw before dark was gorgeous!!

I just drove by the Weston exit on my way home from the Airport (very delayed flight) I was wondering if you made it. Have a safe trip.

We made it and it was gorgeous! There were two other A/S there too. We spent a pleasant hour chatting with a couple who owned a 25ft 80's sovereign. We had a 2010 A/S directly across from us but did not get the opportunity to say more than Hi to them.

Thank you for the great advice. Have a wonderful weekend!!
