Camping in Raleigh? RDU?

Hey gang, does anyone have a lead on a campground on the west side of Raleigh, NC? Need a place to plug in tomorrow night. Thanks.

Glen,
If you get far enough down US 64 there is a state park at Jordan Lake. The closest one to RDU will be the Crosswinds section. There is also one on Falls Lake north of the airport area. Then there is always my place but ya gotta feed the cat...

I was thinking of you today as I worked up into Aberdeen. You still in Charleston? Your place is a bit of a hike back to the airport area and I can hose off in here just as well.... gonna need to hit the Y tomorrow at least. Man hotels up around RDU are $100 a night!

I don't know of campgrounds, but check around the Falls Lake area - a little bit west and north of Raleigh. It is a beautiful area - it may be Army Corps of Engineers - not sure. If you travel with canoe/kayak, there are eagles nests out on the lake and you can watch them up close. Pretty amazing to watch them scarfing fish right out of the lake.

Aaron we stayed at Falls lake state park and enjoyed it. Head North next weekend and join us in Crozet, VA for our August rally and my installation.
