Some of the lakes are having problems with blue-green algae which can be toxic for dogs (and they are looking into a link with ALS). Lake Carmi and northern Lake Champlain have been shut at times so please be aware of this if you bring dogs. usually it's more of an issue when temps are high though.

We really should have a Green Mountain Alumaloo (Phalluma? Falluma?)!!!
Hi Kim,

Thanks for the suggestions last year . . . do you have any new ones for your area? Hoping to make it up that way in the fall maybe.

Thanks,

Peter

Good morning Peter,

I have had limited experience as my excursions have been fourfold to date: my high school reunion (stayed on the athletic center parking lot), Ricker Pond, Quechee Sp, and Clarkson MA SP. Ricker Pond is for the nature lover, a beautiful lake surrounded by green mountains with loons calling day and night. There is a rail trail that goes through the park nice if you have bikes. My lakeside spot was a little tricky getting out of but there are plenty of more easily accessible ones. Quechee was really nice too with lots to do in that area. Great Indian food nearby, Billings Farm NP, the Saint Gaudens NHS, walking, hiking, shopping and more. The SP's have been clean and well cared for with friendly staff. In my area I think someone said something good about Burlington's CG. Clarkson was really nice and great if you want to visit Mass MOCA and other things in that area. I usually go midweek to avoid crowds and such

I hope life allows you some adventures with your AS this summer and fall! Keep me posted. Of course you're always welcome here.

-Kim

Hi Kim,

Have you been camping at all in 2020? Wondering what the status of private and state campgrounds are. We may try to come north this Fall, if possible, for some family visits near Montpelier.

Vermont Covid-19 regs for everyone's information:

https://www.healthvermont.gov/respon...veling-vermont
https://accd.vermont.gov/covid-19/re...s-state-travel
https://dfr.vermont.gov/document/travel-map-methodology
https://dfr.vermont.gov/sites/finreg...ogy-071620.pdf
https://dfr.vermont.gov/about-us/cov...eling-graphics
https://accd.vermont.gov/covid-19/re...te-travel/data
https://accd.vermont.gov/content/tra...ied-2020-07-27
[See 7-27-20 Excel file there, which shows our county in NY is >400 active cases per million, thus subject to quarantine coming to VT]

Thanks,

Hi Peter,

I haven't been out this summer but am starting to think about it--maybe Maidstone SP in August? So I am not familiar with private CG's around the state. But the state parks are open and you can explore them at https://vtstateparks.com Vermont has been "successful" at fighting this virus and is worried about folks coming from states with higher infection rates. Quarantining is mandated as is, recently, wearing masks when out in public. Our state parks do not have hookups.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Hope you can come up to Vermont in the fall!

Kim

Thanks Kim . . . Vermont has done an admirable job . . . too bad the rest of the country could not follow its data-based approach to a real world medical problem, which can be managed with sound science and so forth.

Will check out your leads, and look forward to reports of trips you end up taking.

Travel safely,

Burlington Vt Campground

Weve stayed several times at the city run North Beach Campground. Its right on Lake Champlain, with a bike bath that runs in between campground and lake. About a mile on the bike path to downtown Burlington. About 25 sites with FH, the rest a combination of just W/E or tent sites
