Campground near St. Augustine?

I was thinking about a trip to St. Augustine.
Maybe about April or May. I'm flexible.
But when I tried to reserve at Anastasia State Park, it claimed the first available RV site was in August!

I see there are some private campgrounds nearby.

Anyone have a recommendation? I don't need amenities other than power and water.....and a nice spot.

Here you go: https://www.floridastateparks.org/pa...kes-state-park

Favor-Dykes State Park is 15 miles south of St. Augustine. Its more "rustic" but has electric and water. It also had some first-come-first-serve sites the last time I stayed there. It is much easier to get into than Anastasia.

When we go to St Augustine, 30 miles, we stay at the St Augustine Beach KOA. Its well positioned near the beach, the Amphitheater , the A1A Sunset Grill and the Gypsy Cab Company Restaurant. Stops we often make. It is also near A1A south which is also a prime kayak route to Matanzas for us.

Some folks I know like the Stagecoach up on hwy 16 near the outlet mall.

Some seem to like North Beach RV camp. It is close to beach one side and ICW the other side. It also is near a couple of good restaurants. But they are REAL proud of their sites. Even for me its a little much.

The St Johns RV park and Storage is at the flea market and often has sites. It is more of an overnight stop.

April and May is over for the "seasonals" but St Augustine tourist season goes all year long.

We've stayed at North Beach RV campground. It's a nice place, between the ocean and the inland waterway. Relatively easy access to St. Augustine. The waves are eating determinedly at the sand dunes on the ocean side, across Highway A1A from the RV park, but as long as A1A is still there the RV park should be fine.

That said, we liked Anastasia State Park better. Keep trying, you might be able to grab a site due to a cancellation...that's how we got in!

We really liked Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in Jacksonville. It is a beautiful municipal park with sites that are within walking distance of the ocean. We were there just three weeks ago.

We just stayed at North Beach two weeks ago. It was nice with very private sites due to thick foliage. Nice sunset view you can walk to on the river side. We paid $78/night plus tax.

St. Augustine Campgrounds

We stayed at the St. Augustine Beach KOA 2nd week in January - Very nice and friendly close to the water, shuttle service into Old SA. A LOT to do in St Augustine - check out the winery while you're at it!
