Campground near Bloomfield Hills, MI?

Hi everyone

Does anyone know of a nice campground within an hour's drive of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan? My husband has to work there for a few weeks and we'd like to take the airstream.

Would like a place where I can be comfortable walking with my 7 month old and the dog. Walking trails are a BIG plus!

THANKS for any suggestions!

Campgrounds

By far the nicest campgrounds within an hour of Bloomfield Hills would be in the Waterloo Recreation Area. The "full hookup" areas have clean restrooms with showers, etc. Green Lake CG is rustic (no hookups), very much like being in the wilderness with some beautiful sites on the edge of the bass-filled lake. Silver Lake State Park has a rustic campground as well and is notorious for its walking/mountain bike trails through miles of woods. If you're looking for KOA type, maybe someone else will answer... I think there might be something near Novi. We prefer the rustic approach but you might need more than that if using it as a home base for work. Good luck and enjoy your stay in Michigan. If you're near Ann Arbor, try Zingerman's Roadhouse for stellar bbq.
Regards,
Bob

Thank you -- Waterloo Rec Area looks great. Trails plus!

DH wants full hookups though, do they have a pump-out service or am I dreaming? We have never camped in the U.S. except in a tent in the Everglades so I am unfamiliar with state parks. How do you tell if they can accomodate 34' trailers? I find the DNR website a little confusing

Maybe we can split our time between a full hookup-type and Waterloo R.A. as a compromise. Anyone stay at the KOA in Holly? It looks pretty squishy there...

Ok never mind about Taylor's Beach, I don't think they can accomodate our size rig.

Hmm, maybe this is not such a good idea after all...

From what I understand Michigan State Parks do not have pump out services. They either have full hook-up sites or a dump station.
On the DNR website you should be able to select your trailer size when you make your reservation. When you do this it will only allow you to reserve a site that will accommodate your trailer.
I know nothing about the KOA, Haas Lake or Taylor's Beach.
