I would first ask them how old the park is then when the electric was updated , and water also how is the drainage in the park . A few more questions and then tell them how many years I spent to restore my Airstream .

Right on. So many RV parks are just above trash and they want top dollar for it. So many are dated into the 1960’s and they ask the age of your trailer??? We stayed in a park in 2015 that had a electric spike and a few RV’s had damage, the park owner said “Sorry”. That’s why we use a very good protector.

That’s great!

Thats funny! Needed that. Ever wonder why they have 10-20 year Airstream loans but your banned to stay at a campground it its over 10 years? What the Heck?

Good chance the rally will be cancelled. Haven’t heard yet. We’ll see.

The Parks usually ask what type RV and when we tell them Airstream ...they seem to have no further questions. I’ve never been refused or queried further about it’s age. I finally figured out why they will accept an Airstream while they refuse others....
.... If it will ROLL IN.... then it has sufficient salvage value as an Airstream to make it worth their while. It will always sell to a restoration-addict regardless of age if it’s an Airstream that is sufficiently legal over the road to get there.

We have found that if they do that typically their park isn't where we would like to go anyway.......one day over a happy hour I can elaborate
I look forward to that day!

All of our Airstreams over the years have been around five years old if asked by an RV park clerk... all except our '67 Safari, which was polished up to a shine and looked so damn cool they got out the whisk broom to sweep the campsite for me...

Seriously though, with the exception of the '67, nobody ever quarreled with the stated birth year of our Airstreams.

That's one of the Airstream advantages...

We all know it can be very frustrating, to have an older classic airstream and be told there is an age limit at the RV parks. I have seen Chinooks from 1992 that look nicer than many of others rv’s. Unfortunately this policy has unintended consequences. Most of us do not want to hook up at a park full of derelict rv’s with tarps and crap hanging off them. You can find that all over the streets of Seattle and in most wal mart parking lots. The policy is there for a reason. Most park owners/operators make exceptions to this and would love to have your business. The rule wasn’t in place to keep out old vintage trailers. Now if you find a place that’s a jobsworth about it and won’t make exceptions I’m sure that’s not a place worth your business and it won’t be long before their online reviews overshadow them.

happened once

We were once asked to send photos to complete a reservation. That was in Austin or Lake Travis, TX. Once I sent pics of all 4 sides, no problem. Have a set handy, and it will probably pay off. I'm guessing, the Texans being the nice folk they are, were probably wary of the Hollywood types doing the more shabby than chic in their trailers.

We got turned away from a Vegas campground that only took class A.

This is good to hear. I posted the question because recently I had two different camper peeps, who asked me "how old is it?" say, right after I told them,

"Several campgrounds won't let you stay if it is older than 10-12 years old."

Both of them travel extensively- one a full timer. Mine looks nice, has some age spots in the form of filliform but in no way a mess. I wondered what other Airstreamers have run into. I have been to rallies and really enjoyed the vintage models. Some of the layouts and the mods people have done are nice. The idea that campgrounds would turn away because of age just seems so ridiculous but I did not know how impacting this may be nationally.

Mine's a 2012. I will have no problem in a few years saying that it is a 2016. And so on.

Yep. That’s been our experience as well. I tell them the year and then follow up with it’s been fully restored and they never have an issue after that.
