Camp Nebraska. Tampa, Fla.

There is a campground in Tampa, Florida, called Camp Nebraska. We stay here when we visit our son in Tampa. Camp Nebraska has been a continuously operating campground since 1921, making it one of the oldest private campgrounds in existence.

The campground itself is nice, but the neighborhood where it is located is pretty bad. We stay here because of its location.

The early main building is still standing but is no longer in use. It's interesting to stay at a campground that was already in business for ten years when the first Airstream was made.

Here is a photo of the original entrance building as it appears today.

Supposedly back in it's day, Nebraska Avenue where I presume this is located, was a central thoroughfare and not in such an urban environment. But the sprawling city grew up around it and you are right, it's not a great area anymore. Do they have security? Nebraska isn't as bad as some other areas are.
