Camp Madison Yellowstone size restrictions

That’s what I said. 2006 Safari w/rear hitch and a Hensley anti sway and weight distribution (this adds 2 feet). 2011 F150. Park reservation folks say 40 feet total length combined. Then I looked at the photos in the 40 Ft camp site and there it was a F250 and a 5th wheel, hum. Anyone been here??? Do they bring out the tape??? Going Aug-Sep 2016.

You'll be fine. Most are pull throughs and you may need to do a little jockeying to fit. Even if you have reservations, the earlier you get there the more options you may have as the sites empty out.

Is this a pull-through site? Even so, you can sometimes find that your pull- through is partly shared by an adjacent site, with blockage potential for one party or another. Then if it's a back-in site, it's not a question of the tape-measure rangers stopping by, but of whether your TV sticks out into the loop road. If your site is wide enough, you can usually unhitch quickly, and park your vehicle alongside your trailer. If the length limits are serious, you may have to park your vehicle some distance from your AS.

Madison is run by the concessionaire, the Xanterra Corp.
You won't see any Rangers with or without a tape measure. If you can more or less fit in the site, you will be fine.

Madison campground

I've stayed there with a 30' AS behind a 22' TV and fit fine in a large pull through site. Since you can disconnect you can create your own fit combination. We were a walk in and they didn't even ask what our length was.

Thank you for your responses to my quiestion

So there you have it, size doesn't matter. sorry! The kind folks there at the reservation office sent me my confirmation and it showed the truck as 30 feet. That being said they only asked for trailer length. YouTube has a great tool for seeing the camp sites before purchasing them (campsitephotosdotcom). I will use it the next time. As always thank you for your responses.

We were there 3 weeks ago. When I reserved (a year ago) they said I would have a double site -- a back-in where your truck parks next to your trailer. We fit just fine (31' AS and 25' TV) but we did have to pull out the site marker of the site across from us to get in!!

We also stayed at Grant (pull through) and Fishing Bridge (wouldn't recommend unless you want full hook ups for a night or 2)

Also consider going to Mammoth. We had a great pull through site there (#9). Mammoth is no reservations. Get there early and you'll get a site.
