Camden Hills S.P. Maine

I'm thinking about a trip to the coast of Maine in Sept. and Camden Hills looks like it would be a good centralized location. Does anyone have any experience with this campground, or could you recommend other state or national parks in the area. I have a 19' Bambi, so tight spaces are usually not a problem.

We stayed here last year. Nice wooded sites spaced well. The town of Camden is postcard perfect and is about a mile from the park. Hiking trails. I definately would recommend.

We enjoyed Camden Hills very much. Nice walk down to the sea or up the hill to the mt. top with beautiful views. Great lobster joints nearby too.

The Camden area is very nice, but expensive and touristy. Not knowing your budget, you may want to spend a day in Camden but actually stay at a campground such as Searsport Shores about 25 miles north of Camden. Less pricey, within driving distance of Camden and only a few miles from Belfast and Searsport which are both interesting in their own right. As I said, depends on your budget and whether high tourist areas and high prices are attractive to you.

camden hills

Was just up the entire coast of Maine. While in the Camden area we stayed at Camden Hills RV Park just outside of Camden in Rockport. Less then a 5 minute drive to Camden. Very nice park. We spent time in the state park hiking the Ocean View trail. I would recommend this hike and the RV park. While there we also did the Appledore schooner sailboat, very enjoyable!!! Young's lobster pound is not one to miss north of Camden in Belfast.

We have stayed at Camden hills for the last 3 years and love it and the town. The campground sites are all level and easy to park your rig. An even prettier campground is the Oceanside KOA in Bar Harbor. They have site right on the water with gorgeous views. A bonus is that they have a local guy who sets up a tent and cooks whole lobster dinners for about $20! The town is nice with many things to do including a whale watch trip that doesn't disappoint.

Hmmmmmm. Lobster - you guys bring back memories. My family used to spend the first two weeks of July at Colonial Gables and eat the best lobster ever at Young's. Haven't been back since I moved to CA in 1991.

I hope to get back there someday with my own family and Airstream.

Thanks for the suggestions. We can't wait to get up there in September, and check the area out.
