Buc-ees in Kentucky

Just saw on the Lexington, KY news that a Buc-ees is planned for central Kentucky. It's going to be off I-75 in Richmond, just south of Lexington. They said it will have something like 120 gas pumps. I have heard that it was supposed to be something special but, good grief, 120 gas pumps? The thing will have its own ZIP code. Groundbreaking is set for April 13.

Nothing like a Bucee’s.

Really.

Nothing.

More importantly: There will be sufficient quantity of hermetically clean restroom stalls to handle the people traffic from all 120 pumps!

We’re getting a Buc-ee’s here in Boerne, TX next year. Best place ever to fuel up, especially for an RVer. Low prices, easily accessible pumps where you can take your time, clean restrooms, good food, stuff to buy.

Such an enterprise must cost multi-millions of dollars. I wonder how they do the justification of such an investment when EV's are coming. Or will they convert to a giant charging station?

Maybe they know EV's won't stop their business?
120 pumps? My first thought was, If I buy a pack of gum, will the line at the cash register be 75 deep?
I was skeptical when Wa-Wa moved into Florida. We have a bajillion 7-11's. Wa-Wa's attitude makes it worth going, they're friendly, clean, the deli is automated, they sell ethanol free gas, the coffee is decent, on and on.

We always stop at Buc-ee's during our travels. Just browsing in Buc-ee's is always entertaining. The rest rooms are the cleanest I have ever been in. Their food selection is outstanding. The Bu-ee's in New Braunfels, Texas is the largest convenience store in the world at 66,335 square feet. Even with 100+ gas pumps, they do not allow large trucks at their stations.

I'm sure all of the small chain travel centers won't be happy to see that get built. They said it will bring a lot of jobs but it's going to take out some businesses too. It will be pretty much in the middle of the state, halfway between Knoxville and northern Kentucky, even points east and west on I-64 for people coming up from the south. I'll have to drive down there an take a look at it when it's built.

I've heard they're building one west of Knoxville on I-40, in Crossville.

I know a spot in Kingsport that would be well suited, right where I-81 and I-26 meet....

One just opened in Daytona, incredible. We did a drive-by last weekend, while we were going thru, I noticed they had DEF pumps so I topped off, it worked awesome, I'll not use those 2.5 gallon cans again. Go Big Beaver.

Maybe they know that in 10 to 20 years when EV is finally viable, that they’ll need those 120 pump spots so the EVs can sit there and charge for four hours. Customers can spend their time in the store buying stuff. Who knows...maybe they’ll add a spot to nap while the EV charges.

We always stopped at Buc ees in Texas and just loved stopping there with the easy access RV pumps and clean, not crowded rest rooms. Our understanding is that the one in Crossville, TN is supposed to break ground later and since we have a campsite in Crossville that will be our new fueling spot. With a 30' trailer we tend to really see our egress before pulling in somewhere. Glad to see Buc ees expanding to other states.

We stopped one time...it is a sight to behold. Sadly, they were selling biodiesel, so a no-go for us.

Has anyone seen “real” diesel at a Buc-ees?

The ones we went to were bio 5 or 10% I believe. I also had a Flying J that was bio but not all.

Buc-ee's has also confirmed plans for a new site off I-40 in Crossville, Tennessee, between Knoxville and Nashville. The Crossville site could be the first to open in Tennessee and is slated to open in 2023, according to company officials.

I went to their web site. The two in Florida are Daytona and St. Augustine. North East coast. Nothing near me.
Buc-ees does not franchise or sell stock, it's privately owned. They feel they can keep a close watch on quality that way. Building new stores has to be a big expense for a family operation!
They don't allow overnight parking, and they don't allow "resting".
I was surprised.

They are great, stopped at one last week on our way to Waco. Very popular for sure.
Help wanted with lowest category starting pay of $15.00-$17.00 then $26.00+ for management trainee. 3 weeks PTO, healthcare and 401k.

I stop at Buc-ees every day on my way home from work for something. My biggest pet peeve is folks who pull up to the pump, hop out and go in shopping instead of fueling then moving out of the way for the next guy to fuel. Even 120 pumps aren't enough sometimes because of these folks which causes a line at the pumps behind vacant cars and TVs.
