Buc-ee’s in Tennessee

In another thread, it was previously mentioned that a Buc-ee’s was being built in Crossville on I-40.

Just saw the news that one is also going to be built in Sevierville:

These facilities must cost into the many millions of dollars. With the push toward EV's will these places convert to electric charging or do they know something the politicians don't?

Just curious!

I saw mention in another article of GM and Shell working together on EV charging.

I concur, it would only make sense for someone building something 'today' to have EV charging capabilities embedded in the foundational infrastructure for future needs.

It's only smart to include electric charging stations. My wife saw a news story that mentioned at least a few will be included. But I think they are underestimating the coming ev demand.

Chargers can be added. What needs to be built in is “lounge” space for those one hour recharging stays, and Buc-ee’s really pushes that! I see a bright future for the beaver.

I'll admit, I can see an EV being great for: home to work, work to the grocery store, all those short trips where you go someplace and will be parked for a bit: eventually, almost all parking spots could be EV charging locations.

But when I've got distance to go.... ie, this past weekend coming back from Maine, our last leg was from New York, down I-81 to home in Tennessee, was topped off the night before, and made two gas stops while on the road. Both stops were about 5 minutes. If I had to wait an hour or more to charge back up before getting back on the road, adding two more hours to my drive day, I'd not be a happy camper. I don't know that I could ever tow w/ an EV if it doesn't include some sort of rapid charging.

For me, a hybrid would make sense, that you can quickly refill, but then it'd power a generator that runs your drive motors, and you might have better efficiency. I know GM said they'll not do another hybrid, but supposedly the next Toyota Tundra will be. I liked my 4Runner, but, I like my Sierra....

Rapid charging. That's what I want to see developed. That'd be the thing the might nudge me over....

And we really wouldn't want to see The Beaver take a beating, especially in The Press.......
