Thanks for sharing all your photos as well as commentary. We have all enjoyed your trip through bite sized portions of your trips expansive photo library. We will leave it to Gene to pay you a visit and see the entire gallery.

Most importantly, you had a good time and are home safe and sound, welcome back to the good ol USA!

Here we go again.

Hi, this time it was a last minute decision. Our trailer is being loaded, piece by piece. My hitch has been taken apart, cleaned, and lubed. The Lincoln was serviced. And Boo-Boo went to be groomed today. This is somewhat of a random trip because we have no real plans and no reservations, but that is our style. Our GPS will be set to Port Angeles, Washington. Hoping to make it there in three days, or four, maybe. Going to meet some very special Air Forums friends and possible meet some new ones.

Hi, our trailer is loaded and my Lincoln is loaded. I took a few pictures, but my camera cord is in the trailer, so I can't down load them now. Things to remember in the morning: Bring Boo-Boo's water dish, [for in the trailer] bring Boo-Boo's water hole. [for in the Lincoln] Did I forget anything? Oh yea,................................................. Bring Boo-Boo.

Hi, We left home at 4:40 AM and I seemed to have regained my youth; Thirteen hours later we are in a camp ground. It was very hot today. It got as high as 110 degrees. Dan didn't say if we would have WIFI. The WIFI here is slow, so I will try to post some pictures too.

Hello Bob,

We just may pass by each other on my way home. I'm up in Shasta. My drive up was very wet and a nice 72 degrees. The truck and airstream loved it. The ride today was 98 in a few area's and I had to keep the speeds down. Dan has wifi at the house but it wont reach to the back 40 where we were banished as trailer guys :-). Sorry we missed each other but I have to go back to work so you retired guys can keep screwing around and having fun

Vinnie

Hi, Vinnie we must be very close to each other, but you have gone past me or I have passed you. We are in Weed, Ca. tonight. Thank You very much for being kind and considerate of us poor, old, retired people. We need all the help we can get. If you can stand your GPS yelling "RECALCULATING" turn around and meet us at Dan's.

Enjoyed your trip and not having to go through airplane misery and customs lunacy myself makes it even better.

I'm trying out a Verizon data plan with a magic box that converts cell signal to wifi for up to 4 or maybe more devices. If I'm in a 4GLTE area it is very fast, but 3G is about as bad as Tengo. I needed to do this because it is the only way to get internet at our new house (really fast there), but at our old (still unsold) one it is like camping at a CG with slow internet (except it doesn't drop the signal). Our old ISP raised prices about 30%, so Verizon is now close in price.

Anyway, it is the way to get around bad or nonexistent wifi in CG's and works while driving so long as you're within cell tower range. By the end of the year the system should be all 4G. No fees for the equipment for today and tomorrow plus rebate that will cover activation fee and a bit more. Sales come and go all the time. On my iPad, I can get maps and directions (though no voice and no turn by turn instructions) at no extra cost.

It is one way to go for internet. Not perfect, but should get better. I find bad wifi at CG's as frustrating as you do.

Enjoy seeing Lili & Co. Wish we could be there.

If this is the Verizon mifi, Gene, this is what we have, and we love it. We love having it with us, rather than relying on what we may find.

FWIW.

I think they have a different name for it now—it is a black box about 3 sq. inches and half an inch thick. It is a magic box to me, related to Barb's magic talking box, a/k/a dumb phone. Since Barb's ancient eMac can't be converted to wireless use, she's getting a new laptop—Mac Air 11.6" with solid state hard drive. Found a refurbished one from Apple for a lot less than list price. I'll still use CG wifi if it works—some actually does and works well.

Bob, get with it and join us with magic boxes. Then when you are sent to the trailer parking at the TC get together, you can still have internet service.

Sounds like exactly what we have, Gene. We will use campground wifi if necessary, but like ours for personal things such as banking. I just won't use public wifi for some things.

We have had 2 MacBook Air. They are great, just remember also sensitive to bumps, etc. I crashed a hard drive a couple of years ago on a bumpy road. Went to an IPad for travel.

Back to Bob & Lee's random trip.

Barb's getting the one with a solid state hard drive. They can't break the way spinning things at 5,000 or so rpm can. Also faster speed. iPads have a solid state hard drive too (saves on battery life also) and so does my giant (17") laptop.

Now, back to the random trip—if Bob had Verizon, he could be posting on the road.

Sounds like Suni and me when we landed at Ohare coming back from our "Western Med" Cruise. We barely made our flight with about 5 minutes to spare but our luggage wasn't so lucky. Although they did deliver it the next day.

Hi, OK gang; We redone our contract with Verizon FIOS and with it I can use Verizon WIFI while on the road. I didn't know how to use it yet because I can't test it at home. And I didn't remember my password. Well right now I'm using it and don't need any black boxes.

Hi, back to the drawing board. I signed on with Verizon and it suddenly switched to Tangonet. Then I had to sign in to Tangonet to get back on line again. I'm guessing that Verizon supplies Tangonet, but this doesn't make sense to me. Why sign into Verizon and have to sign into Tangonet anyway? I will have to check with Verizon and find out what the deal is.

Hi Bob, I got the AT&T 4G (little white magic box) and I love it..I didn't have wifi at the cottage down the coast, so it seemed a better idea than having DSL hooked up there for weekend visits when this thing goes where ever I go and gets the signal if the phone can get it... a good thing... hugs,gail...see ya at the Lilifest!!! (aka Dan's)
