Hi, this morning we left Enchanted Trails in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At 23 degrees, it was just too cold. Even though I disconnected my water hose last night, it still froze. We put my water hose in the shower so I could, later, roll it up without breaking it. as we headed South, it got down to 13 degrees and started snowing. We stopped at a gas station and then decided to continue our trip. Later we were abducted and found ourselves in Roswell, New Mexico.

Hi, also in the Roswell Museum of Art was a Rocket Scientist display. It showed rockets, parts, and his workshop.

Hi, for tonight, we are at the Trailer Village Campground in Roswell, New Mexico. We set-up camp and there was no water getting into the trailer. The water inlet was still frozen from last night. It eventually cleared, But I know the campground water supply is going to freeze tonight. I connected a water hose to the next sight so I could fill my fresh water tank, but that spigot was already frozen. I connected both my hoses together and was able to fill my fresh water tank. We will use the water pump tonight. My new water pump is quiet and works great in my shower; Maybe better than the shore pressure. It was a race to roll up my two water hoses before they got too cold and stiff. Also to get done before my hands froze. Our furnace will be running all night long. Glad I filled one of my propane tanks yesterday. As soon as one tank is empty, I switch to the other one and get it filled. It's way too cold to run out of propane.

Hi, my new brakes installed by Vinnie keep getting better as they seat-in. I have had to turn my brake controller down several times on this trip. Yesterday they were getting really grabby at slow stops. It is recommended by Tekonsha to use Boost #1 for travel trailers. I turned off the Boost and they seem to be perfect now. I think I started at 9.0 and turned them down at .5 each time and now I'm at 6.0. These work better than the original brakes ever did.

Hi there... was that a Tin Can Rally??? or are those rentals??? It's cold here too... I drove thru Salem yesterday on my way back from California and they'd had freezing rain just to the west of there.... brrrr... and lots of rain.... pure Oregon... keep having fun!!! Hugs around, gail...

You got it colder there than up here in Canada. We're hovering around freezing by day and colder by night. Ponds are starting to ice over.

Cold. Its whats for breakfast. Just keep that heater runnin! As a veteran of hundreds of days in bear country, i say that the only real worries are our own species. I did get dented by a juvenile cow once, but he was having a teen moment. And he was being driven in a herd by , yet again, our own species.

Hi, my brake controller is set at 5.5 now and working great.

Hi, Gail; I don't know if they rent those or if they are just for display; No-one was in any of them while we were there. We haven't figured out how we are going to get home with Oregon weather.

Hi, hshovic; We had a few Bison, in Yellowstone park, get very close, but no touching.

Hi, well we escaped Roswell and made it to Carlsbad. This was another relatively short drive. Before we left a cute little trailer from Ontario, Canada parked next to us. We took a few pictures on our way out of Roswell. Did I mention it was cold there?

Hi, yesterday we went into the Big Room as they call it; In Carlsbad Caverns. It is really huge and a lot of walking. Today we took the self tour where you walk down the natural entrance instead of taking the elevator down 750 feet. Later we took a guided tour of the Left Hand Tunnel. In this tour, it is only with candle light and no railings. And at one point we had to blow out all of our candles. CAN YOU SAY DARK? After the tour, as we are going back to our car, we saw the cute little Airstream again.

Hi, this was a very long walk just down to the entrance, let alone the rest of the tour. We were followed by a 50 person High School group. So we had to keep ahead of them.

Hi, this was done by candle light, 13 total, and you had to stay on the narrow path between red tape lines. You couldn't step, or touch, anything outside of these lines, even if you were losing your balance. We all blew our candles out and were in complete darkness for a few minutes. There were only two places where we were allowed to take pictures.

Hi, tonight while in Carlsbad, New Mexico we had a dome light failure. This could have caused a fire in my trailer. I started a new thread with the above title.

Hi, we left Carlsbad and headed West. We went through a part of Texas known as El Paso. It was blow you off of your feet windy. As soon as we were back in New Mexico, it was nice again. Mountains and head winds has killed my gas mileage. The strong winds have also cracked my outside refrigerator aluminum door. If I had a few things to work with, I might be able to save this very thin aluminum door. A piece of aluminum angle or strap with some two sided tape would work. Hate to buy a new door $$$$$. We are at a KOA in Lordsburg. Pretty nice place. This morning it is cold and a little bit windy. The WIFI signal is weak, but working better than most of the places we have been to on this trip.

The old trailers at Enchanted Trails in Alb. are always there. They are rented out to tourists. When we were last at this park, wifi was terrible too and we were right next to an antenna. This is the CG where many stay before going to the Balloon Fiesta with the Airstream group.

Cold here too, but NM sounds colder. Since the cold air comes down into the US on the east side of the Rockies, not all of it makes it across the mountains to the west. Stay west of the Sangre de Cristo Range and it may be warmer—Santa Fe may be better than Alb.

We went to Carlsbad in mid-summer. Very, very crowded. We also went to what was then called the "New Cave", but I think it has another name since it wasn't actually new when it was discovered in the 1920's. Flashlights were ok. Tours to other caves nearby or parts of the the main caverns are scheduled for certain times and days, so it is good to check beforehand. We went before the internet, so we couldn't check and took what there was available and it was very interesting.

Hi, last night we made it to Phoenix, Arizona. We will stay for three nights. I needed some gas and a few things at the store. as usual the store didn't have everything that I needed. I also wanted to buy some parts so I could fix my dome light, but ran out of time. Last night at the gas station, where I thought I was getting a good deal, I got burned. My Lincoln has a 30 gallon tank and was down to just under 1/4 tank. When done pumping, it said that is was $92.00 and it took just over 30 gallons. I knew right then that something was wrong. I talked to the employees, had one witness my gauges, and was given a corporate phone number to call. I left a message and was called back this morning. My calculations showed that I was charged for an extra 5 gallons of gas. This morning I got a refund for the over charge. My trip meter, my mileage indicator, and my calculator showed that I used 25 gallons since previous fill up.
