I guess it's a matter of sentence structure preference, However that to me, says you do not have the option of wearing shirt and pants in public. How do you look in a moo moo or is it a tu tu?

San Francisco again.

Hi, well today was mostly about the Golden Gate Bridge. We found some roads which gave a totally different view of the bridge. During this excursion we drove through Sausalito and stopped there for lunch. We sat at a table on the sidewalk. When we got there the only table left only had one chair. The couple next to us used a third chair to put their backpack on. When I mentioned that we needed another chair, those people got up and left., Now we can have two chairs for this tiny table for our lunch. It was a nice, but expensive lunch. Before we finished eating some smokers sat at the table next to us so we finished our lunch in the Lincoln.

Lee Lee wanted to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge; I couldn't leave Boo-Boo alone for too long. I dropped Lee Lee off at one end of the bridge and I drove to the other side in the car. It looked safe, and it was still cool out so I left Boo-Boo in the car with windows cracked and a water dish. I started walking across the bridge to try to meet Lee Lee in the middle. She was just past the middle when I met her and we went back a ways to the middle for some pictures. Then we finished our journey to say that we walked the Golden Gate Bridge. [bucket list] Dogs aren't allowed, but Dusty rode in the car across the bridge four times. So he can say he was there too and has a picture to prove it.

This bridge is massive and we saw some crazy [feareless] people on top. You think Airstream has rivets, you should take a close look at this. Please don't jump because someone could get hurt. [or die]

Bob,

How did you do with your acrophobia on the bridge? I wouldn't want to look over the side. I wouldn't jump, but might fall over the side if I got dizzy looking down. Did the put the nets under the railing yet? If I fell over and looked down through the nets, I'd probably want to cut them with my Swiss Army Knife. Heights are even worse for me when I can feel the bridge moving from traffic.

I had a brake wire separate several years ago and repaired it. Haven't had any break since. The newer brakes are self adjusting and that is a nice upgrade, only 50 years after they started doing that for cars.

56 years ago I was in San Francisco and the prices down by the bay were pretty high. There was a separate charge for bread they didn't tell you on the menu. But the chairs were provided at no extra cost. I remember Lombard St., but we didn't have a trailer and I wouldn't bring one there. It has been the scene of car chases in several movies. Have you considered moving to the Haight and becoming a flower senior?

Hi, Gene; I did pretty well on the bridge. At the start there is a temporary chain link fence for workers. After that, the railing is reasonably high, but I was still very cautious. I did reach over for a few pictures. The bridge did constantly vibrate from the motor vehicles.

I didn't get the self adjusters, but that's OK because I didn't wear out my shoes. Ten years and still had plenty of lining left. And that's what Vinnie had already ordered for me.

My family had some thing to do with the start of this restaurant so they better not charge extra for the bread, which was very good.

You would never get a trailer down Lombard street; You would get stuck on the very first turn.

Great pics Bob.. I live right here and still find that bridge to be amazing. Those people up on the North tower ride a very tiny elevator all the way up. Im told the view is amazing but a bit scary on the way up. The brakes.. I am not a big fan of the self adjusters. Folks tend to rely on that feature and forget about the brakes. Too often I see brake material separating from the metal shoe and wonder if they were too tight at some point and overheated. Or... the bearing repack gets overlooked. It only takes a few minutes to adjust the brakes manually and it gives you a chance to spin the tire, look for damage or anything rattling around inside. Oh.. and its less expensive. Glad you are having a good time in the city. How is the Novato RV park this time?

Hi, Novato RV Park was OK, but I had a few concerns. They listed three open spaces for drop-ins and I picked the easiest one to back into. Space #158; It was so dark and somewhat narrow, so it was difficult to get into without hitting anything. With Lee Lee's help, I made it. Last time I was there, it was also dark. I recommend only going there before Sun down. The sewer connection was quite high and had a "T" fitting with the cap missing. I asked them [on the first day] to fix it so I could use the sewer on the second day. They never fixed it so I drained my gray tank under my trailer, but since it rained, they will never know. [just kidding] My sewer fitting fit kind of tight in the sideways "T" so I was able to drain my gray tank. Even with a discount it was right at $200.00 for three nights; This might be a record for us.

OK now for the good parts; On the way out we bought a BLT from the Deli and it was really good. Also the WIFI was great. If you look at my picture, you might see why.

Hi, just in case you didn't notice it in the picture in my previous post, the WIFI antenna was right behind my trailer.

This morning we left Novato and made it to Bakersfield. We are now camped at the Bakersfield RV Resort. Might be here for a few days. Tonight was laundry night. Dusty has gotten quite dirty, but as you can see I won't be able to wash and dry him there because dogs aren't allowed.

Any water restrictions in Bakersfield? You are in the middle of drought country.

Glad to hear the snowbrush has a scraper too.

$67 a night is high. I think we paid around $100/night at a KOA near Key West. They wanted to charge extra for wifi and I said something like—"you want to charge extra for wifi with rates of $100!". Then they gave me some passes for free wifi. Everything is negotiable, but if you want to go to Key West, negotiations start really high. These were summer rates too, but the CG was half empty, so high rates have an effect. I hated paying so much, but if you drive that far and don't stay close, why go so far? We've had some pretty high rates in resort campgrounds, the kind we only go to when we are desperate.

Hi, Dusty finally got a bath and all of his illegal stuff washed in the laundry room late at night while no-one was watching. I went to the local Camping World today and saw a few things that I might need or want. I ended up, only getting, a free bag of popcorn. Last night I re-torqued the lug nuts on my trailer, since all of the wheels were removed for the brake job. They took a little more torque, so I'm good to go. Today I paid for one more night and got one of my propane tanks filled. We leave tomorrow morning and might not have WIFI for quite some time. Last time we stayed here in Bakersfield it was so hot in my trailer that I walked half a mile in the heat to buy a fan for Dusty. We are using it this time and Dusty loves it. He stands right in front of the fan to cool off even though we are running the air conditioner.

Great pics as usual Bob. That WiFi tower was pretty handy in the Novato RV park. I don't think I can recommend that place even though it was close to my house at the time. The spaces are too tight for overnighters. The last airstream that pulled in there at my suggestion hit a tree and broke one of the upper clearance lights. Glad to hear the trip is going well. We love the Bakersfield RV resort. That place is pretty nice.

Whatever Happened to the Sixties?

Bob, am enjoying the report (and photos). I like the idea of walking
across those landmark bridges.

Also love the idea of becoming a flower senior (or flower canine for Dusty). That would be a real "trip."

Bob, are you lost in the Mojave Desert? Boiled in Death Valley? Expired in the Funeral Mountains?

Hi, everyone; We are at a friend's house in La Habra, California. I just found out that this Laundromat has WIFI. We are going to see if we can get some dental appointments ETC. while here and we are helping an old friend. No WIFI was killing me. Also other things to be done while we are down here. [as foreigners, for the first time] I have to drive like a Californian again. Horn honking, road blocking, barging in, ETC. Our Lincoln is doing a great job; Miss my brand new F-150, which I only put about 30 miles on before putting it into hibernation. We are parked in a driveway and have 20 amp service, water, and sewer 50' away. Had to buy a new 50' sewer hose and fittings.
