Schwerin, Germany.

Hi, it was listed as Warnemunde, Germany, but that is just the port area. At this stop some of the tours actually went to Berlin, ours didn't. We didn't want to see any death camps or anything gruesome like that, that were listed on the tour lists. So we were taken to Schwerin. The main attraction there was a huge lakeside Castle. I looked up the center of a staircase and was getting dizzy. I found this unusual Sun Dial and was amazed that it was exactly one hour off. How can that be? Also there was some red cast iron railings outside, but with a closer look, they were made out of Mahogany wood. Most all Castles have their art, chandeliers, and gold. In this case all of the gold was gold leaf. [not solid] My legs started to hurt from all of the hours of standing and I saw this nice red chair, but they wouldn't let me sit in it. In town there were many local shops and I could almost read them; Like this one, looks like an Auction House. They also put the dates on the buildings. If you get lost, just check one of the street signs, then you'll know that you really are lost. In this church there was this two faced clock; maybe you can make it out if you blow it up big enough. it tells the time, year, month, day, Ect. Etc. Ect. This clock has way too much information and might take me about six months just to read it. One of the largest pipe organs in the world.

OK you know I'm a Ford man.

Hi, you know I'm a Ford man so I have to check out what other countries have. First was this Ford Edge, but wait, It's a crew cab pickup. Then I saw a Ford mini-van; Ford doesn't make mini-vans any more and they haven't had a Galaxie for decades. But this Ford Galaxy mini-van looked pretty good and would probably sell well in the states, but what do I know?

A number of years ago when in England we rented a Ford FESTIVA.....no not Fiesta, a FESTIVA. This car was a size smaller than the Fiesta and it had 4 doors. It had to have 4 doors so that we could get our luggage into the back seat. The trunk was so small that it only held maybe a couple small suitcases.

I really like the stairwell photo, no wonder you were getting dizzy. The sun dial has no built in function to accomodate for daylight savings time

Hi, I thought that the daylight savings time was only a California thing.

I don't know if it is only CA, we have it up in WA as well. My comment was more around the fact that the time was exactly 1hr off. Not sure if daylight savings time really had anything to do with it at all

Enjoy your trip and the quality time with Lee.

Maybe the sundial was created before time zones were established in Europe and thus, reflects local time.

And looking up into that stairwell would make me a little dizzy too. In fact, just looking up fast makes me dizzy in the last few years. That made painting a ceiling last week interesting.

Looks like you're not doing a lot of cruising yet.

Day at Sea.

Hi, this was a day at Sea. No stops today, so I will show you some pictures of our little cozy room. It was larger than my trailer, but without a kitchen. Perfect for us. Included are some outside pictures.

Daylight Moving Time

It is certainly is not appropriately named. It does nothing but create the illusion of moving daylight from morning to evening by lying about what time it is.

Here is a link to a list of where else in the world this voodoo time manipulation is in practice.

Daylight Saving Time Around the World 2013

This global hoax could only have been orchestrated by extra terrestrial aliens for some as yet undiscovered sinister purpose.

Ken, you are mistaken. If you were up at 2 am when DST starts and ends you would see the sun move in the sky, thus moving the daylight from one part of the day to another.

Bob, quite plush. Looks nicer than the Titanic.

Tallinn, Estonia

Hi, never heard of this place before; Actually there are lots of places that I never heard of before. Estonia is close to Finland and Russia. Seems as though most all of the countries that we went to had their own money. Few would take Dollars and most would take Euros. Oh well, we would have only bought something to drink, a Danish, or ice cream. We're not ones for buying stuff everywhere we go; We already have way too much stuff at home. In Tallinn, unlike other places in the Baltic, they use pastel colors on their buildings. first thing that we saw was the Nevsky Cathedral. Looks like a church with Mosque accents. The pink building is the Parliament of Estonia. Soft drink venders have converted bicycles with a barrel in front to hold the cold drinks. She wouldn't take Dollars so we didn't get any. From up above, the roof tops were interesting, unlike Lakewood, they were facing in all directions. [not lined up] In the Baltic, there many Amber jewelry stores. Some of it was nice, but we didn't buy any. Interesting Amber jewelry store sign. We were treated to musical entertainment in several locations, and all were in costume/uniform. Not until several days later did I notice the warning sign about purse snatchers; The sign was in the alley/street and is yellow and black. Remember that we coined the phrase "Happy Mommies"? Well the children seem to be happy too. No whining, fussing, crying, nothing. I think that is because they spend more time with their mommies and aren't spoiled at all. It seemed as though there was some kind of entertainment every where and it wasn't all music.

The wood and layout of your cruise-ship bedroom reminds me of the Classic Airstream.

Have fun!

Hi, Gene; Come over any time now. My wife's camera has about 2500 pictures on it. Down loading now. That's about 4,000 pictures for your viewing entertainment.

With that many pictures you'll be able to relive the entire cruise and not forget anything that wound up in front of either of your lenses! Wonder if you will see something on Lee's photos that you somehow missed while you were taking other photos

Hi, yes Lee will have many pictures that I didn't get partly because she always got the window seat. She sees things that I don't and vice versa. Between the two of us, not much got missed. As for what was what and what was where, Lee has the superior memory. I rely on dates and folder labels.

Saint Petersburg, Russia day 1.

Hi, Saint Petersburg, Russia is a two day tour; We will return to our ship for the night. We started out with a bus drive into town. Our first adventure was a Russian canal boat tour. From the canal we could see lots of the city and huge stretches of almost endless buildings. Seems as though Every building in town had cameras covering every angle. Kind of spooky and who is watching us with all of those cameras? We saw an ancient Russian Navy Battle Ship and some Tall Ships too. Russia is loaded with palaces so we only went to see a few of them. A Russian symbol is the two headed eagle; We saw quite a few of those, once mentioned by our tour guide. Chandeliers are everywhere and because of the size and weight, some of them are made out of paper mache' [sorry spell checker and I both don't know how to spell it] In the palaces are gold leaf covered items, statues, paintings, marble, and so many chandeliers. I liked the arched hall ways. Lee liked the paintings. Many great statues too. most of them are X-rated, so I will not post them. Late that night, on the ship, in the theater, we were entertained by local Russian talent.

I bet if you researched more closely, you would find they are only R-rated. However I believe that airforums only accepts AAA rating pictures.

Saint Petersburg, Russia day 2.

Hi, on this day our tour started with a white bus named MAN. It seemed like a good bus and we had the youngest driver yet. He didn't hit anything, so that was good. They get real close to those little cars. We went to see another palace, a huge palace. It was really fantastic inside, but you will just have to take my word for it because we weren't allowed to take any pictures inside. I might have gone to jail for taking a picture of the sign saying that you can't take pictures. out side in the garden and water show area there were two guys re-doing the gold leaf on one of the statues. All of the gold looked like brand new. The top of the palace was also gold plated; I wonder if it was just re-done too. This palace was so large/long that I used my panoramic mode to get it all. Ready to go to our next stop and I noticed a few bus drivers trying to fix a flat. Well that flat was on our bus. great, now what? We were split into three groups and squeezed onto other buses, going to our next stop. Later we were back together as one group on a replacement bus. I took a picture of a Russian cop; If she saw me, she might have shot me. Things are a bit scary in Russia. No smiling, just serious looks. Well we made it to another fascinating church. You might get dizzy looking up again.
