One more word of warning - ALMOST all pulloffs have a separate entrance and exit, but I found ONE that had one entrance - where cars could turn around and leave... but of course there was no way whatsoever to turn a 25 foot Airstream. So I had to back out onto the parkway (blind curve of course!) with my flashers going (HOPING oncoming traffic was obeying the speed limit and paying attention) and as quickly as possible get going forward. Traffic wasn't heavy. If it had been I would have asked a kindly motorcyclist to stop oncoming traffic until I was clear. Before you start each day's travel make sure you know which scenic overviews you can safely use.

Did the whole parkway in 2009 with a 28ft SOB and loved every mile! One pull off we had a issue other than that it was very relaxing drive. Click image for larger version

I believe this is the FIRST available turnout on the left if you take an incorrect turn onto the BRP when leaving Highland Haven. I found this too -- my second time towing my 28 -- I nearly went over the parking lot granit curbs with my AS trying to turn it around before I learned how to backup that quarter mile, uphill climb on the turn radius leaving the parking to the parkway.

to add something new to the convo (though I havent read the rest) - be aware the parkway is used heavily by cyclists, and you WILL have circumstances where they are climbing at 7mph up a hill on a curve and all you can do is wait.

If I remember correctly

Rte 211 out of New Market (rte 81 ) to the Skyline Drive is a road that I stopped using because of the grades. It has a smaller, then a larger mountain pass.

I used I 66 to get east of I 81. Maps will help you pick on and off points. The people who had " no problem " picked the right on and offs

Heads up if you are traveling I 81. The old route 11 that follows 81 is a nice drive ( stoplights small quaint towns, antique shopping, old gas stations )
