Bent entrance step

Yesterday I failed to slow sufficiently at rr tracks and got bumped around a bit, no other noticeable probs in AS besides usually hurricane clean-up. The side of step mechanism is bent, so cannot descend, i tried lube, hammer, brute strength but cannot get slide into descending position. I'm presently in James island SC, making my way to Cape Hatteras. There is Campers World close by, recommend I go to them or seek out regular mechanic? Much thanks in advance.

I did the same once, clipping a boulder with the step. It's a simple mechanism. I used a large crescent wrench to gain leverage and bent it back into shape. Steady force rather than impact with a hammer should be more effective.
