BC to Utah
Hi guys,
I just wanted to share with you our very first road trip with our Sport 22.
So planned to return to Utah after our 2016 roadtrip across Canada and USA. We really liked East Canyon and we knew we only touch the tip of the Utah iceberg.
It was a short trip - 8 nights, but we made the most of it.
Campgrounds: We stayed in 6 different campsites.
Sportsman State Park Yakima, Washington. Easy to find, and park. We didn't explore so was a bit pricey for only an 8 hour stay, but you've to live, right?
Lake Walcott State Park, Idaho. AKA Racoon City. The place is actually really nice. Lots of wild sage, nice lake. We were wondering why nobody stayed out at night. We quickly figured it when the bugs all came out. It was pretty spectacular. So we all rushed in, and left way to many things on the picnic table. We were raided 3 times that night by different racoon gangs. They were pretty thrilled with our offers - they ate all the dog food, and helped themselves to some delicious French bread. Ah well, part of the fun, right?
The Pine At Bryce Canyon, Utah. 3 nights. All great. Very clean and nice people. Hot during the day, and freezing at night. A bit pricey, but close to everything we wanted to see, and we were able to get reservations too.
Green River State Park, Utah. My favourite of them all. The best park rangers we've met by far. Weather was perfect, and it was located perfectly for us since we wanted to do Arches and head back home early the next day.
Huntington State Park, Oregon. Hot hot hot and windy. Actually a very nice state park (we love them all to be honest). The only time we had the AC running all night. Woken up in the middle of the night because of the strong wind and had to roll in the awning.
KOA Mt St. Helen, Washington. After 3 fully booked state parks, we were lucky enough to find one spot available in this campground. Again, a short 8 hour stay was all we had. I can see though we some people just swear by those kampgrounds ;-D
Utah's National Parks are definitely something to see. We went to Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Arches. We also hiked some "narrows" in Escalante. We had quite a few "Aw" moments, a couple of scary ones and lots of memories.
Here a few pictures. Enjoy!
Stéphane
