Congrats! We will be celebrating down in Tempe, too! Last one is done!
So, I am going to throw you another Phoenix option. McDowell Mtn Regional Park. Agree with Cally!) We think the 360 views are phenomenal. It's close to the nice town of Fountain Hills with a beautiful Safeway for groceries if you need. It's about 20-25 minutes to the 101 where you can shoot down to ASU.
There's nice space between the sites - if you can get 53 it's a beauty (it sits high) - or number 6. This is our favorite local park - we bike there at least twice a month and make it a "last night" before home ( which is just 20 minutes away). We've stayed here for a weekend even though it's only about a Bird's mile! Clean bathrooms ( even an AS host!) The sunrise and sunset are unmatched!
If you are bikers, hikers or even walkers, there are beautiful trails!. Not much shade (this IS the desert!). If youhave time , Ranger Amy leads wonderful programs - for adults!
As for the four corners area - Navajo National Monument is a hidden gem, but don't miss Monument Valley if you can do it. As for Cortez area, there is Mesa Verde if you want a National Park. In Dolores is McPhee Res,\. If you want a gorgeous drive, there is 145 north to Telluride and on to Gunnison or Ouray/ Silverton and down to Durango. I second Alpen Rose for an RV park - beautiful views of canyon walls! ( go to James Ranch for local meats) Also, Moals Lake at 10K - could be cold - cause it was cold in June last time we were there - but gorg none-the-less!
Get in touch is you want more info. That's as far east into CO as we have been.
Enjoy the trip - you may never want to go back to PA - we didn't!!!
